Adze

Seeing an adze in a dream signifies carrying on one’s life according to the present circumstances, receiving help and kindness from family members, a public-order officer, a person who thinks only of his own interests, or an evil woman whose words cause harm.

The interpretation of seeing an adze in a dream is that a matter will come to an end in a manner suited to your benefit.

The meaning of seeing an adze in a dream is interpreted as a servant who does nothing unless told, and who, when commanded, performs works that bring goodness and benefit. Whoever sees himself straightening something crooked with an adze will guide a person toward goodness and protect him from evil.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, an adze is interpreted as a man who binds everyone to himself; according to one account, it signifies a sharp-tongued, quarrelsome spouse. Seeing an adze in a dream is auspicious. Whoever sees himself carving a tree with an adze, it is a sign that he will earn money in proportion to the amount of wood chips produced.

Cutting down a green tree in a dream is a sign that one of the members of the household will fall ill. Whoever sees himself attaching a handle to his adze will enter a government office or obtain employment. If the dreamer is a woman, she will marry; if she is married, she will have a child. Whoever sees the handle of his adze break while carving a plank will fall into distress.

According to another account: Seeing an adze in a dream is a sign of continuing in one’s present condition. Sometimes the adze signifies livelihood, and the sustenance and benefits to be received from a servant, a child, or a wife. The adze signifies a public-order officer who disciplines and reforms men who do not act rightly. Some interpreters said that the adze denotes a person who is desirous of drawing property toward his own side. Others said that it signifies an evil woman who is long-tongued and speaks vile words. At times, it is also a sign that an unseen person will become visible.

What does seeing an adze in a dream mean: It is a sign that you will inherit, or that you will obtain more profit than expected from the work you have done.

Ibn Sirin: Seeing an adze in a dream signifies continual progress, permanence, stability, sustenance, profit, and benefit that will come from one’s spouse or child. The adze may also represent the head of a project, a manager who must report the course of his work, a teacher, an intelligent person, an educator, the mouth, a servant, a greedy person, a sharp-tongued woman, or the arrival of a traveler.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of emotional life, work and responsibility, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
