Air

To stand upright in the air with one’s feet lifted from the ground in a dream signifies temporarily attaining honor and rank; to see oneself in the air signifies travel and hesitation in carrying out a matter; to fall from the air to the ground signifies decline in work and profession, or, for one who is grieved, deliverance from that grief. Air signifies a person’s lower self and arrogance.

To see oneself standing upright between earth and heaven and speaking extemporaneously signifies honor and blessing; the clearing of the air signifies joy and happiness; its darkening signifies sorrow and grief; the sudden darkening of the air during the day signifies a distressing situation that will arise there; the air darkening gradually signifies that rain will fall; rising into the air, flying, or ascending upward by means of a vehicle signifies a spiritual rank.

If the air is clear and sunny in a dream, it means that your fortune will increase. If the air is partly cloudy, you will succeed in your emotional life. If the air is overcast and gloomy, ill fortune and illness are pursuing you.

To see air in a dream is interpreted as health, happiness, cleanliness, and comfort.

To see calm and beautiful summer weather in a dream signifies that your days will pass in joy and happiness; cloudy autumn weather signifies that you will experience troubled and sorrowful days; and cold and stormy winter weather signifies that you will pass through very weary and painful days. To see yourself in the air, in empty space, signifies that your affairs will deteriorate; to see yourself falling from the void to the ground signifies that you will lose all your capital.

To see yourself standing upon the air between earth and heaven in a dream signifies that you are bewildered concerning your affairs and do not know what to do. According to another narration: Whoever sees in a dream that he is in the air attains honor and power. However, this state does not continue for that person. If the one who sees this dream is a liar and arrogant, then his dream is false.

Whoever sees himself walking in the air in a dream, it signifies great honor and lawful wealth. To see oneself between earth and heaven signifies being preoccupied at heart and not knowing what to do. Whoever sees himself falling from the air will fall from his rank, position, and renown. If that person has no rank, position, or renown, he will lose hope in the thing he hopes for and be deprived of it. Some interpreters say that if a person who is sorrowful and grieved falls from the air in a dream, Allah (Exalted is He) will deliver him from sorrow and grief.

To see oneself sitting in the air in a dream signifies that the person is upon an evil path in his religion and affairs, and is arrogant. Whoever sees himself building a house or pitching a tent in the air, riding an animal, or doing things resembling these, if he is ill or has a sick person with him, it signifies that he or the sick person will die.

To see flying in the air in a dream signifies traveling by sea or over land. If he flies in the air with wings, it signifies the strongest and clearest matter for the dreamer. If a person alone sees the air darkened to such an extent that the sky cannot be seen, his relations with his superior will become strained. If he has no superior, he will become blind.

Ibn Sirin: To stand in the air in a dream signifies being honored by a ruler, but this does not last long. For a person possessed of exaggerated hopes, arrogance, or self-centeredness, gliding in the air is merely confused dreams. To walk in the air without rising or descending signifies honor, esteem, and lawful earnings. If one is not worthy of this, walking in the air signifies travel. To remain suspended in the air between heaven and earth signifies an anxious heart and not knowing what to do. Falling in the air signifies despair while awake or loss of status; it also signifies deliverance from distress. Clean, fresh air signifies faith, peace, and safety.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, work and responsibility, health and body, spiritual signs, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
