Blacksmith

To see an unknown blacksmith in a dream signifies a great sultan; a known blacksmith signifies a powerful, skillful, and majestic person. To call upon a blacksmith in a dream signifies falling into distress; to see oneself as a blacksmith signifies strength and becoming possessed of property; to enter the shop of a blacksmith whose clothes are dirty and whose face is black as tar, and to sit beside him, signifies committing deeds that necessitate torment.

To see the blacksmith’s furnace extinguished in a dream signifies sorrow and grief; to see it glowing with embers signifies sustenance. It indicates the support of an important person.

He who sees in a dream that he is a blacksmith will be pleased to see that people benefit from him in their worldly affairs. According to another narration: The blacksmith seen in a dream is a majestic person in proportion to his strength and skill. The blacksmith is Azrael (peace be upon him). Iron is his strength and severity.

For a blacksmith to obtain from iron whatever he desires in a dream signifies possessing a great estate. Therefore, whoever sees in a dream that he is a blacksmith, that iron becomes soft in his hand like wax, and he makes from it the tool he desires, if he is worthy of property, shall attain property.

What does seeing a blacksmith in a dream mean? It signifies evil, severity, and being prevented from exercising authority; and at times it signifies strength and making a difficult matter easy. If something from the smoke or sparks of the iron touches him and causes harm to his eye or clothing, his condition will become difficult.

To see a blacksmith in a dream also signifies those who earn their livelihood through fire, such as a cook, baker, coppersmith, and the like. If a person sees in a dream that a blacksmith—especially if his clothes and face are black—enters his presence and sits beside him, that person will enter the fire of Hell, or he will be cast into prison.

Ibn Sirin: To see a blacksmith in a dream signifies a powerful, majestic person who disciplines people. The blacksmith’s fire may signify sedition.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
