Blood, Having Blood Drawn

Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq: There are four interpretations of having blood drawn in a dream: 1—The opening of one’s affairs 2—Travel 3—Enmity 4—Partnership.

‘Allamah Majlisi: To see that you have fallen into a well filled with blood indicates that you will unjustly injure someone. To see that blood is drawn from your vein signifies that you will acquire a great amount of property.

To say, “The blood is coming!” while giving blood indicates that your wealth will increase. To say, “The blood is going!” while giving blood indicates a loss of wealth.

To see that an excessive amount of blood is coming from your body and that your blood has been exhausted signifies that you have reached the end of your life and must therefore seek forgiveness.

The Prophet Daniel (peace be upon him): To see that an excessive amount of blood is coming from your nose, that you feel no weakness in your body, and that the flowing blood has stained your garment signifies that you will incline toward unlawful property.

To see that a small amount of blood is coming from your nose, that you feel even a slight weakness, and that no blood has touched you indicates that your wealth will diminish and that you will become poor. To see blood being drawn from the veins in your muscles and wrists is interpreted as your affairs returning to normal.

To see blood being drawn from the veins in your hand in a dream indicates that your affairs will improve. To see in a dream that your veins have been emptied and have turned purple signifies distress and grief.

The Author: To see that you wish to have blood drawn from your body but that no blood comes out signifies affliction and that evil events will occur. To see blood coming in a dream indicates that you will find wealth or suffer disappointment.

Having blood drawn in a dream signifies happiness if you are chaste and religious; otherwise, it indicates trouble in proportion to the amount of blood that comes out.

Ibn Sirin: To see blood coming from your body although you have no wound indicates that, if you are one who deals in bribes, you will receive a bribe; and if you are not, you will suffer harm.

To see that there are wounds on your body and that blood is coming from these wounds signifies that you will suffer harm and, because of this, will grieve.

To see that someone has wounded you with a sword and that blood is coming from your wound indicates that people will speak ill of you and that, because of this, you will gain merit.

To see an old person taking blood from you indicates that you will hear cutting words from your enemy or that your property will be destroyed.

To see someone taking blood from you in a dream indicates that you will hear an ugly word from your relatives or, according to some interpreters, that your property will be destroyed in proportion to the amount of blood leaving your body, or that one of your relatives will die.

Kirmani: To see yourself drinking blood in a dream is interpreted as your eating unlawful property or shedding blood unjustly. To see that there is a hole in your body, that blood is coming through this hole, and that it has soiled your garment signifies that you will acquire unlawful property in proportion to the amount of blood that flows.

To see that you have recently been wounded but that no blood is coming from the wound means that your property will decrease or that you will hear a pleasant word from someone. To see blood coming from your sexual organ in a dream indicates that, if your spouse is pregnant, she will miscarry.

To see blood coming from your anus and spreading onto your body indicates that you will acquire unlawful property in proportion to the amount of blood that flows.

To see blood coming from your gums in a dream means that you will have a problem with your relatives and will grieve.

To see a scholar taking blood from you and the dish becoming filled with blood indicates that you will fall ill and will spend your property to rid yourself of this illness.

Jabir al-Maghribi: To see that you have fallen into a place covered in blood indicates that you will shed blood unjustly. To see blood flowing in a city or on a street signifies that much blood will be shed in that region.

To see blood flowing from gutters in a dream is interpreted as much blood being shed in the region where you are. To see that you have had a vein opened and have had blood drawn signifies that you will speak the truth concerning a matter.

To see someone taking blood from you, all your blood being drained, and no blood remaining in your veins indicates that your death is approaching; or, if you are ill, that you are suffering from a dangerous illness and will not recover from it.

Isma‘il al-Ash‘ath: To see that you open a vein and draw blood with your right hand in a dream indicates that your income will increase. To open a vein and draw blood with your left hand signifies that your affairs will deteriorate.

To see someone known to you taking blood from you in a dream indicates that your spouse will give birth to a daughter.

Contemporary Scholars: To see blood means that you are anxious about one of your relatives. To see that you are bleeding indicates that you will receive extremely good news.

To see blood coming from your mouth in a dream signifies that you will contract a very serious illness.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of health and body, work and responsibility, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
