Seeing a candle that illuminates its surroundings in a dream signifies a person who benefits people through his knowledge, gnosis, and spiritual influence, and illuminates their hearts; the candle signifies the ruler, a generous and renowned child, a saintly person, a righteous person, and one who is a spiritual guide; for the poor, it signifies wealth; for the unmarried, marriage; and for the sinful and ignorant, guidance.

For a married person to see a candle in a dream signifies that he will become a saintly servant of God; seeing the candle melt and fill the hollow part of the candlestick signifies lawful property to be attained after distress and hardship; seeing a candle-maker signifies joy and relief, guidance and knowledge, diminution of wealth, the departure of blessing, illness or weeping, and, for the sick, death.

Seeing the light of the burning candle in one’s hand diminish signifies a decrease in blessing. Whoever sees that he has an unlit candle in his hand attains a small amount of blessing and authority.

According to Daniel, peace be upon him: seeing a candle burning in one’s hand or house signifies, if one is married, that one will have a son; if one is unmarried, marriage or the acquisition of a servant; and if one has someone abroad, that person will return safely.

Seeing many candles burning in a place in a dream signifies the justice of the ruler of that place, that the judges are fair-minded people, and that the people live in abundance.

Sometimes this dream signifies the death of his spouse, child, parents, or the person overseeing the affairs of his household. Sometimes it signifies the death of the dreamer’s wife.

If someone sees in a dream that he has a lamp, candle, or lantern in his hand and fears that it will go out, it signifies the death of a sick person. If a sick person sees himself ascending to the sky with a candle and then descending once more to the earth, it signifies that his soul will ascend to heaven.

If someone sees in a dream that he receives light from a candle, he will attain knowledge and elevation. If someone sees himself trying to extinguish a candle by blowing upon it, he is trying to invalidate the work of a person who is upon the truth, but he will be unable to invalidate it.

Seeing oneself walking with a candle during the daytime in a dream signifies that the dreamer’s religion will be strong and his path will be the straight path. If he sees himself walking with a candle at night, then, if he is among those who perform the tahajjud prayer, he will persist in that prayer. If he does not perform the tahajjud prayer, he will receive guidance in a matter concerning which he is perplexed and bewildered, and he will attain his purpose. Sometimes the dreamer is engaged in a sinful deed and repents from it.

If someone sees in a dream that a candle is burning and giving light between his fingers or among his limbs, a concealed matter concerning that person will come to light, and he will be satisfied by it. Some interpreters said that the lamps and lanterns of mosques signify the wealthy among the learned, those possessed of piety, and reciters of the Qur’an. If someone sees in a dream that the lamp or lantern of a mosque has gone out, a learned person who regularly attends the mosque will die.
