To see a ceiling in a dream denotes a worthy man; a wooden ceiling, a proud person; an earthen ceiling, a humble man; and a concrete ceiling, a coarse and uncouth person.

The collapse of the ceiling in a dream denotes a calamity or the death of the man of the house; something falling upon one from the ceiling denotes fear and sorrow; cracks seen in the ceiling signify good and spiritual ranks if daylight or the sky is visible through them; and water dripping from the ceiling is an indication of tears. (Damage to the ceiling in a dream denotes a decrease in blessings; a light-coloured and clear ceiling, happiness and inner peace; a dirty and dark-coloured ceiling, inward distress; and climbing onto the ceiling and being unable to descend from it denotes entering prison.

To see the ceiling of one’s house collapsing in a dream denotes the death of those dwelling in that house or of its owner. To see the ceiling leaking or dripping denotes weeping for a dead person or praying for a sick person; and to see the earth or tiles of the ceiling flying away denotes gradually becoming poor through the loss of one’s property and the removal of blessings from one’s hand. (To see grass growing upon the ceiling in a dream denotes falling prey to the deception of certain people; and to see the ceiling split denotes the carrying out of an unwanted deed. According to some interpreters, a beautiful and ornamented ceiling denotes that its owner possesses a lofty rank; and the collapse of the ceiling is an indication of a great calamity. (According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, if the ceiling of the house is made of wood, it denotes a man of high station. To see oneself entering beneath a ceiling and unable to see the sky denotes that a thief will enter one’s house; and the breaking of the ceiling beams means the death of an evil relative.

According to ‘Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi: To see a ceiling in a dream is interpreted as a good-hearted man. Whoever sees the ceiling of a house about to collapse will be frightened by such a person. Whoever sees earth falling from the ceiling and soiling his garment will acquire property.

To see one of the ceiling beams breaking in a dream denotes the death of the members of the household as a result of a calamity. Whoever sees in his dream that he has climbed onto the ceiling and, wishing to descend, is unable to do so will enter prison. The roof beam holding the ceiling boards is interpreted as an evil person who possesses a high station. To see this beam breaking denotes the death of that person; and to see it fall from its place without breaking denotes his dismissal from his post.

Whoever sees in a dream the ceiling of a room collapsing upon his head and himself remaining beneath it will suffer torment and calamity. The house of one who sees stars beneath the ceiling of a room will be destroyed. Whoever enters beneath a ceiling through whose gaps the sky is visible will have one of his relatives enter his house and steal some of his valuable possessions.

Whoever sees the ceiling of his house collapse in a dream will die. In the house of whoever sees water dripping from the ceiling, tears will be shed for a dead person or a sick person.

According to another narration: The ceiling seen in a dream is a man of lofty rank. If the ceiling is made of wood, it is a proud man. Whoever sees the ceiling as though it were falling upon him will be seized by fear from a man of lofty rank. Whoever sees earth falling from the ceiling of a house upon him and touching his garments will attain wealth after fear. If one sees in a dream that the wood of the house’s ceiling has broken, it indicates that the owner of the house will die because of a calamity and affliction descending from the heavens.

If a person sees in a dream that he has entered beneath the ceiling of his house and that the sky cannot be seen from there, a thief will enter that person’s house and steal his belongings. If a person sees the ceiling of his house collapse, it indicates the death of the owner of the house.

If a person sees in a dream that his house is dripping, it indicates that people will weep in that house over a sick person or a dead person. Whoever sees in a dream that he is upon the ceiling of his house and, although he wishes to descend, is unable to do so, it indicates that he will enter prison.

Ibn Sirin: To see a ceiling in a dream indicates a respected person. If it is wooden, it denotes a deceitful and fraudulent person. If the ceiling appears as though it will collapse upon one’s head, it indicates fear of a person in authority. If dust subsequently falls from the ceiling onto one’s shirt, it indicates that he will receive money in return for his pains and troubles. If the central post supporting the ceiling cracks and falls, it denotes the death of the man of that house. If the ceiling collapses, it likewise means the death of the man of that house. Hiding beneath the roof in a dream may mean that a person will enter one’s house and steal the belongings of one’s family. Water seeping from the ceiling indicates weeping for someone who has died in that house or for a sick person. If rain melts the ceiling, it denotes loss of property and falling from favour.
