Change in One’s Body

To see oneself very old in a dream while in reality one is young and vigorous or middle-aged and strong signifies improvement in religion, increase in rank, and an increase in honor; whereas to see oneself young in a dream while one is old is interpreted in the opposite manner.

According to Ibn Sirin, if an old or middle-aged woman sees in her dream that she is young, the world will turn its face toward her; and if she is ill, she will recover. If a young woman sees in her dream that she is exceedingly beautiful and young, it is interpreted to mean that she will die before long.

Whoever sees in a dream that his stature is tall and his body large will have a long life and great honor. He who sees that his stature has become shorter or that he has become smaller will sell his house or property; and if he is an official or a laborer, he will be dismissed from his work. According to one narration, he will become bankrupt. Whoever sees a deficiency in his body will suffer deficiency in his religion and worldly affairs. To see oneself transformed into a metal or into an object that is put to use signifies receiving benefit; to see oneself become a frog signifies one who is not occupied with worship; and to see oneself become a monkey or a similar animal is an indication of the wrath of Almighty Allah.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq (may Allah be pleased with him): To see oneself transformed into one of the ugly animals, such as a monkey, is interpreted in nine ways: insult, belittlement, punishment, vengeance, mockery, perpetration, forbidden things, an evil deed, and baseness. There is no good in seeing an ugly animal.

According to Daniel (peace be upon him): To see oneself transformed into something possessing beauty and goodness is an indication of hardship first and victory thereafter.

According to Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi: In a dream, a young person becoming old, the beautiful becoming ugly, or a man becoming a woman is without good. It signifies humiliation, insult, immorality, misery, and poverty. Conversely, the old becoming young, the ugly becoming beautiful, and the woman becoming a man are good. They indicate an increase in strength, happiness and joy, improvement in religion, faith, and, ultimately, good in every affair.

Whoever sees in a dream that he is a woman or that he possesses female sexual organs is interpreted as humiliation, insult, and distress. If he has a lawsuit, he will make peace with his enemy. If a woman sees that she has become a man, that she possesses something resembling a male organ, and that she has a beard, then, if she has a son, she will become a notable person in the place where she lives. If she is pregnant, she will give birth to a male child; and if she is not pregnant, she will never bear a child. Sometimes this dream is attributed to her husband, father, or brother. If a woman sees that she has become a man and has relations with women or marries them, she will attain goodness and honor, money and sustenance.

If she sees in her dream that a woman has become a man and, after having relations with a woman, marries her, it means that she will encounter something astonishing. To see oneself possessing an animal’s tail, horns, claws, or a trunk is good.

To see oneself winged and feathered like a bird signifies an increase in one’s worth and indicates good. To see oneself become a bird and fly is interpreted in three ways: travel, the immediate accomplishment of an affair, and worship. To see oneself become an animal of a kind whose flesh is eaten is a calamity. If the dreamer is an official or a laborer, he will be dismissed from his work. According to one narration, he will become ill-reputed among the people. To see oneself transformed into a camel, sheep, cow, or another animal whose flesh is eaten is an indication of good.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
