Chasing with a Knife / Being Chased with a Knife

To chase with a knife in a dream, or to be chased with a knife in a dream, indicates that you take little pleasure in certain people around you, in your working life, in your apartment building, or among your relatives; that you do not like them, and even regard them as enemies.

To chase with a knife in a dream may also signify that those people truly are persons who do not love you. It may, of course, be merely a suspicion created in your own mind; yet in every case, it points to people whom you dislike and whose sight does not gladden you. Or your various troubles and anxieties may manifest themselves in this manner. That is to say, the person whom you regard as an enemy is in fact the symbol of an anxiety that oppresses you.

According to the dream analyst Craig Hamilton Parker, however, being pursued in a dream by someone who wishes to kill you is a sign that you have an emotional problem which you do not wish to confront and from which you avoid turning to face.

For example, if a man sees in his dream that he is fleeing through narrow corridors and that small doors appear before him, this is interpreted as meaning that his emotional problem is the person pursuing him, while the narrow corridors and small doors are symbols of his feeling himself to be restricted.

According to Craig, being pursued is interpreted as not feeling secure, particularly if the dream has been seen by a child. Children who are mocked and bullied by their friends at school may see in their dreams that they are being pursued by unseen persons.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, emotional life, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
