According to another account: To see chess in a dream signifies social intercourse with various people, a great city for a ruler, and attaining relief and joy.

To play with chess, backgammon, and walnuts in a dream signifies deceit and disputation. If a person sees himself playing chess, he will have a base enemy. To see chess that is not being played signifies men who have been dismissed from their occupations; to see chess being played signifies men of high rank. If, in a certain place, the pieces of chess are seen being moved or drawn forward and backward, a war or enmity may arise for the governor of that place.

The winner in a chess game in a dream is likewise the winner of a political or military maneuver. Every move a person makes while playing chess in a dream is reflected in the political arena as well. To play chess in a dream may also signify intending to engage in a quarrel while not knowing whether one will win.

It may also signify confronting dangerous people; thus, it is a warning that the dreamer must beware of their deceit and traps. To play chess in a dream may also signify idle talk or a weak quarrel. Whoever is victorious in the dream will also be victorious while awake. A game of chess in a dream likewise signifies war, fighting, booty, discovering secrets, pursuing clues, gradual movement, changes in conditions and temperaments, and it may also signify journeys.
