To chew something in the mouth in a dream signifies disputed property and an oral quarrel; to chew something sweet signifies repeating beautiful words; to chew something bitter signifies repeating evil speech.

To chew something with one’s feet in a dream signifies placing beneath one’s feet the property and value represented by the thing one is chewing—whether it denotes good or evil. Chewing something evil is interpreted as good; chewing something good is interpreted as evil.

To be chewed by being caught beneath a vehicle or by being trampled underfoot in a dream signifies that affairs will be set right and that blessings will come together with humility.

To see in a dream that one is chewing something with one’s teeth is interpreted as speech. Whoever sees that he is chewing gum will utter lengthy words without result.

Some interpreters have said that seeing oneself chew and crush something signifies suffering harm on account of a word one has spoken, if that thing belongs to oneself; and, if that thing belongs to another, causing harm to its owner.

Ibn Sirin: Chewing gum in a dream signifies committing ugly sins or engaging in sodomy, for the people of the Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) used to chew gum. If a person sees himself chewing gum in a dream, this may signify speaking excessively, continually complaining about things, entering into a great dispute, persisting in an argument, or losing the sense of taste.

Ibn Sirin: Grinding one’s staple food in a dream, or chewing something other than food, signifies illness or loss of appetite. Chewing gum in a dream signifies earning money through ugly words that will turn into a great quarrel and reach as far as the court. The source of this is greed. Everything chewed in a dream signifies an exchange of words. The sole exception is chewing sugarcane in a dream. In that case, it signifies praising someone or repeatedly hearing the beautiful words that one wishes to hear.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.
