Myrtle Flower

Sayyid Sulayman: This fragrant flower, which grows in Arabia and in hot climates, whose fruit is delicious and whose leaves remain evergreen, signifies a person who is long-lived, of fine character, mature, intelligent, and descended from a noble family, and who is worthy of friendship.

Whoever sees in his dream that he possesses a myrtle will befriend a person possessing the qualities mentioned above and will receive good from him. Whoever sees that he has broken a branch from a myrtle tree will part from a precious person.

Jabir al-Maghribi said: To see myrtle signifies great wealth and blessing. However, yellowed myrtle is a sign of illness.

Ja‘far al-Sadiq says: The myrtle flower signifies a well-mannered, religious child and good earnings. If a woman sees that she gives myrtle to her husband, it signifies that their marriage will continue. Whoever gives a bouquet of myrtle to a friend will remain his companion forever.

Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz says: The myrtle flower points to a person who is faithful to his covenant. For a woman, myrtle signifies a wife. For an official, it signifies continual office. For everyone, it signifies joy. According to one interpretation, it signifies the people.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.
