Closing and Opening a Door

According to Daniel, peace be upon him; the door is interpreted as a woman. Whether they are known or unknown, seeing doors opened denotes goodness and blessing for the dreamer; if the doors are upon a road, it indicates that this goodness will come very swiftly. Seeing the door of a house opened before him signifies that property will come into his hand through a kind-hearted person, and that he will spend it upon his family.

Whoever sees in a dream that the door of his house has been closed, demolished, or burned will fall into a great calamity. Whoever strikes or knocks upon the ring of the door and receives an answer from within, his supplication will be accepted and he will find what he seeks. If the door opens when he knocks upon it, the Exalted God (C.C.) will accept his supplication and grant him victory over his enemy.

According to Kirmani; although all the doors of the house have the same meaning in interpretation, the street door indicates other matters in interpretation. Whoever sees that he has made or locked a new door desires to marry a woman and does marry. Removing the door from its place signifies divorcing his wife, while tearing it out and breaking it away from its place signifies that his wife will die.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has ordered a carpenter to make him a new door will marry a young maiden. Whoever sees that he has nothing with which to close the door and therefore leaves it open will marry a widowed woman.

According to Cabir al-Maghribi; seeing some of the wild animals come as far as his door and roar there indicates that certain young men are making advances toward his wife.

Ja‘far al-Sadiq (R.A.) said: Seeing a door in a dream is interpreted in three ways: the master of the house, his wife, and his servant.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz; seeing more doors opened in his house than is necessary indicates that his house will be ruined and his affairs will become stagnant; if the doors are not more than necessary, it indicates abundance in his livelihood; the opening of the doors of trade and gain; seeing that the ring of his door has come off indicates deviation; and seeing that he wishes to close his door but it does not close indicates that he has been prevented from undertaking a matter in which he has become helpless.

Seeing in a dream that the doors of his house have opened from many directions indicates that the doors of worldly means will open and bring him abundance; seeing the door of his house exceedingly large indicates his good condition; seeing that the door of his house has been torn away and carried to a place unknown to him indicates that a calamity will befall his household.

Whoever sees in a dream that the door of his house has fallen to the ground, if he is ill or has an ill person in his household, he or that person will recover immediately. This dream is an indication of glad tidings and safety. Seeing the door of his house leaning outward is not good. Seeing the door of his house closed indicates that a great calamity will befall the people of that house; seeing that he tries to close a door but cannot do so indicates that a woman will cause difficulty for him in a matter.

Seeing in a dream that he has entered through a door into the presence of a group indicates attaining his desire; seeing that he has gone out through the door and does not wish to return indicates being released from a task or duty; seeing that he has emerged from a narrow door into a spacious place indicates receiving good and being delivered from distress; seeing that he searches for a door but cannot find it indicates failing in a matter despite striving in it; seeing that the iron bars of the door have been removed indicates divorcing his wife.

Whoever sees that he has opened a known door seeks assistance from someone in order to obtain what he desires. Whoever sees that he tries to open the door but cannot do so will enter into a difficult undertaking and will find no benefit in it.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has closed one door and opened another will marry a new woman. Whoever sees that he has opened a door which has been closed for some time will be delivered from grief, distress, and straitness, and will benefit from an unexpected source. According to one narration, he will separate from his spouse and marry another.

Closing the door in a dream means separating from one’s wife. Whoever sees that he has nailed his door shut is so attached to his wife in his heart that he will not have relations with her. A glass door is interpreted as the wife of a judge; a bathhouse door as the wife of the bath attendant; a caravansary door as a woman of light character; a fortress door as the wife of a hero; a shop door as the wife of a tradesman; and a hospital door as the wife of a physician.

Whoever comes before a door in a dream but does not enter through it, and enters that place through another door, asks something of a great official but cannot obtain it, is compelled to appeal to a higher authority, and obtains what he desires.

The room door being new indicates that one’s spouse is chaste and virtuous; its being old and defective indicates that she is ill-natured; having a new door made for his room indicates that, if he is unmarried, he will marry.

Seeing in a dream that he has bought an old door and had it fitted to the door of his room indicates that he will marry a widowed woman; if he is married, it indicates that he will have relations with another woman; removing the room door from its place and throwing it away or selling it indicates that he will divorce his wife. Defect, deficiency, and lack of paint in the room door are measured against the character of his wife. Seeing a change in the door of his house indicates a change in the condition of the master of the house.

Seeing that the door, after being torn away, still remains in its place indicates that the master of the house’s affairs will again be set right; seeing that the place of the door has been walled up indicates that the dreamer will suffer a calamity on account of his wife; the street door becoming larger, broader, and stronger indicates that the condition of the master of the house will improve; seeing a monster enter through the door indicates that evil people will enter the house and do harm.

Seeing in a dream that he searches for the door of his house but cannot find it, if he has a lawsuit in court, indicates that he will win it; seeing doors opened in places known or unknown to him indicates that the world has opened itself to him; if there are more doors in his house than necessary, there will be neither blessing nor order in that house; if the doors he sees opened are upon a road or highway, it indicates that what he has earned will be spent upon strange and poor people; if the doors open inward into the house, it indicates that his earnings will be spent upon his family.

Seeing in a dream that he has entered a house by leaping over its door indicates that he has learned the secret of the master of the house. Seeing that the door of the house has become wider than the other doors indicates that certain people will enter that house without permission; the street door coming out of its place indicates the death of the master of the house and the worsening of his condition; seeing that he has emerged through a narrow door into a spacious place indicates deliverance from distress; seeing that his house has two doors indicates the frivolity of his wife.

Seeing in a dream that the street door is open and propped all the way back indicates that he will suffer harm from the government or that the house will be demolished. The ring of the door is interpreted as the doorkeeper or the messenger. Whoever sees two rings on his door is indebted to two people. Whoever sees that the ring of his door has broken behaves in a deviant manner. Whoever sees the street door burning, his wife will die or his livelihood will become straitened.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
