Date Palm Tree

To see a date-palm grove in a dream is interpreted, if it is in a known place, as a tree representing a person possessing generosity and honour; and if it is in an unknown place, as a jealous and foolish person.

Whoever sees in his dream that he is planting a date palm shall gain honour. He shall become generous and good-hearted. Whoever sees that he is climbing a date palm shall become related to an honourable person. Whoever sees that he falls from a date palm shall not attain his hope and desire. The leaf, branch, and fibre of the date palm signify lawful property.

To see a date palm in one’s house in a dream signifies that one shall establish closeness with a noble person; to see this tree dried up signifies that one shall separate from one’s spouse; and to see it become green again after having dried up signifies that one of the members of the household shall fall ill and then recover.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, the date palm represents an honourable man or a child obedient to his parents; the abundance of its branches and boughs signifies that one’s offspring shall increase; and its being cut down signifies the death of an honourable person.

Whoever sees in a dream that he possesses many date palms, in a place where date palms are found and grow, shall become a great man and shall acquire an exceedingly profitable occupation. To see many date palms overturned and broken by a violent wind signifies that, on account of oppression, many people have been driven into calamity.

To see in a dream that many date palms have burned because one has started a fire, or to witness that many of the eminent people of the land have died from an epidemic disease such as cholera, signifies that many great men shall come and settle in that land.

Ibn Sirin: To see a date palm in a dream signifies a learned and generous person, long life, and blessing.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
