If a person sees a dream within his dream, he should pay heed. It will come to pass exactly as seen.

To see in a dream that one is interpreting dreams signifies the word and report of a person whose veracity is disputed; and to see a pious and truthful person interpreting a dream signifies that the interpretation will come to pass exactly as given.

To see in a dream that one relates the dream one has seen to an interpreter signifies hearing words of wisdom conforming to the Sunnah; and to see oneself as an interpreter signifies becoming a judge and acquiring or studying knowledge.

To see a dream interpreter in a dream signifies receiving news of one who is missing, the fulfillment of the desire of one who wishes for something to be revealed, the joy of the sorrowful, and the sorrow of those who are joyful.

To see an interpreter in a dream sometimes signifies solving difficult matters, knowing things expressed in symbols, bringing hidden matters to light, advising one’s friend and protecting him. Seeing an interpreter signifies one who both gives glad tidings and issues warnings; a mosque and recitation of the Qur’an; a judge, a scholar of jurisprudence and a physician; a money-changer and one who tests the purity of metals; one who consoles people; and one who reads books, registers, and the like.

Ibn Sirin: Clouds in a dream represent the flow of life, bringing rainwater for people to drink, water with which to wash away their filth, and water for their crops and sustenance. Clouds also represent knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and clarity, for they display Divine grace. Clouds also represent an army or companions who carry water, and companions for whom water represents life and the original element from which they were created. Clouds also represent ships and aircraft; or, if they are black, or carry stones, or bring thunder, they represent the hostile character of a leader who deprives his people of their rights or oppresses them with restrictive laws or harsh commands.

Whoever sees a cloud inside his house or a cloud descending into his room in a dream, it signifies that he will join the community of believers, or receive a reward, or be endowed with wisdom; or, if he desires a child, his wife will become pregnant. If he is a merchant, his merchandise will reach its port of destination. To see oneself riding upon a cloud in a dream signifies exaltation, or marrying a pious woman; or, if that is his wish, it signifies that he will perform the pilgrimage. Otherwise, if he so desires, he will become renowned for his knowledge and wisdom. If he is qualified, it signifies that he will command an army, or that his rank will be raised, or that he will be sent as an envoy or ambassador of his government.

If people are waiting for clouds to water their fields, and one sees in a dream clear masses of clouds carrying rain and coming in that direction, it is a calamity. If the clouds carry poisonous rain, acid rain, or polluted rain, or are driven by violent winds, or carry fire, dust, ashes, or rocks from a volcano, they signify that a calamity will befall that region, or that news will arrive concerning travellers, most of whom will perish during their journey. Clouds also represent innovations and fabricated religions that may spread throughout the land.

Whoever sees himself merging with clouds in a dream will befriend a person of authority, a man of wisdom, or a man of knowledge. Whoever sees himself eating clouds in a dream, it signifies that he will earn lawful money from such a person, or perhaps acquire wisdom. Whoever sees himself gathering clouds in a dream, it signifies that he will learn wisdom at the hands of a close friend. Whoever sees himself mingling with clouds without carrying away anything from them signifies that he will mingle with people of knowledge but learn nothing from what they say, or put none of what they teach into practice.

To see oneself riding upon clouds in a dream signifies that one may become renowned for one’s wisdom and knowledge. To see one’s own son transformed into a cloud in a dream signifies that he earns his sustenance by teaching others wisdom or religious knowledge. Black clouds in a dream signify wisdom, gentleness, honesty, and joy. If the black clouds also carry a threat or cause fear in the dream, they signify that one will be rebuked by such a wise person. To see oneself building a house upon a cloud in a dream signifies living an honest life, earning lawful money, and conducting one’s life with wisdom and honesty.

To build a palace upon a cloud in a dream signifies that one avoids committing sins through one’s wisdom. It also means that one will become wealthy on account of such wisdom, or that one will build a palace in Paradise through one’s deeds. To see a cloud in one’s hand from which rain is falling signifies the wisdom of one’s speech. To transform into a rain-bearing cloud in a dream signifies living in wealth and benefiting people with one’s money. To transform into a cloud that rains gold signifies learning wisdom from a great man. Clouds also represent people of authority who do good to others and ask nothing in return.

To hear a human voice calling to one from behind a cloud in a dream signifies that, if Allah wills, one will perform the pilgrimage. A black cloud in a dream represents a just judge, while a white cloud represents a blessed, noble, and just person. Clouds in their season signify benefit, profit, and abundance. A mass of black clouds that carries no rain signifies benefit, extreme cold, grief, or sorrow. Red clouds signify distress, calamity, or illness. A cloud covering the town in a dream signifies blessing. If one who sees such black clouds intends to travel, the journey will take place, though his safety cannot be guaranteed. On the other hand, if he is unhappy about something and sees such a dream, it signifies that his sorrow will disperse.

White clouds signify work, a duty, or commerce. Rising mist in a dream signifies setting out on a journey or returning from a journey. Red clouds signify unemployment. Gloomy clouds signify sorrow arising from stress. To see clouds welcoming one signifies glad tidings. If the dreamer is an evil person, they signify calamity and punishment on account of his sins. To see clouds covering the sun in a dream signifies that the ruler of that place is ill. To see oneself wearing a garment made of clouds in a dream signifies the blessings with which Allah has favoured him.

Clouds also signify virtues, miracles, graces, rain, love, and blessing, for they appear when a prophet or a saint supplicates for rain, or to shield a blessed person from the heat of the sun. Clouds also signify travel by sea or by air.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.
