Sayyid Sulayman: Eating food that is well cooked, easy to eat, sweet, and delicious has been interpreted by all interpreters as goodness, benefit, wealth, felicity, and good fortune.

Eating bitter food in a dream is an indication of grief. Sour food, however, is interpreted as illness and distress. Eating food that is rancid or spoiled in a dream is an indication of the unlawful.

Whoever puts a good and sweet morsel into his mouth in a dream receives news that will make him rejoice, or kisses someone he loves. Whoever sees that he has taken a bad morsel hears an evil word.

To see in a dream that someone gives him food indicates that wealth or property will come into the hands of the dreamer.

If the one giving the food is pious, the wealth is lawful; if he is a sinner, the wealth is unlawful. Whoever sees that he swallows a very hot morsel falls into calamity. A morsel remaining lodged in the throat in a dream signifies misfortune, grief, disorder in one’s affairs, and hardship in one’s livelihood.

Swallowing a morsel with ease in a dream is an indication of goodness, benefit, wealth, and sustenance. Eating very hot food in a dream is interpreted as straitness in one’s provision.

Seeing a hair in the food in a dream is interpreted as grief. Whoever sees that he licks his fingers after eating attains a small measure of good.

Drinking food as though it were water in a dream signifies abundant sustenance and earnings. As for whoever sees that he fills his mouth with very much food, his affairs become confused. Whoever eats food without oil and devoid of taste falls into such straitness that he will desire death. But if he takes pleasure in it, he emerges into relief.

To see in a dream that one’s plate has become empty while eating: whoever sees that the plate before him is finished during the meal has reached the end of his life.

To see oneself emptying the food vessel and licking it with one’s finger or tongue means that his sustenance in this world has come to an end, or that his appointed time is near.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.
