Firman

Sayyid Sulayman: Whoever sees in his dream that a learned man or an ascetic has given him a firman concerning deliverance in religion and salvation in the Hereafter shall attain happiness in both the life of this world and the life of the Hereafter. However, if beautiful things are not written in the contents of the decree, or if its color is black, the dream does not signify good.

Jabir al-Maghribi said: Whoever sees in his dream that the sovereign has given him a firman addressed to a town or province whose inhabitants are devout, whose interior is flourishing, and which possesses various blessings, this signifies honor and rank. If the decree was written with a ruined region as its destination, it is interpreted as humiliation and insult.

Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz says: Whoever sees that he has received a firman from the Imam shall become a provincial governor if he is suited for it. If his circumstances are not suited to this, it signifies that he shall obtain employment in a government office.

According to Ibn Sirin: The dreamer shall attain power and esteem proportionate to the authority of the firman and the importance and greatness of the place from which it came. Whoever sees that he has lost the document in his possession, if he is a provincial governor or another official, shall be removed from his office. If he is not an official, he shall lose his power and respect. Whoever sees that he possesses or has been given a berat is interpreted as justice and wisdom.

Kirmani interprets this dream as follows: Whoever sees that the berat in his possession has been torn or stolen shall be defeated by his enemy. Whoever sees that the sovereign has given him a berat shall attain respect and rank. Whoever sees that a woman (a person who in former times held the office of judge) has given him a berat shall acquire knowledge and wisdom.

Al-Salimi said: A firman given by the sovereign signifies respect, office, and rank. If a person sees in a dream that he has received a firman from the head of state or the governor of the city, this points to sustenance and benefit that shall come from great personages.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, home and environment, emotional life, spiritual signs, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concluded in the dream should be evaluated together.
