It signifies a person who is proud of his worldly possessions and coarse by nature. According to another narration: To see an elephant in a dream is interpreted as good and symbolizes that your spirits will improve. The dream of an elephant is considered auspicious.

To see oneself being flung about by an elephant’s trunk in a dream signifies removal from office or death; to take something from its trunk or to milk it signifies lawful earnings coming from those who govern; to ride an elephant signifies office for one suited to it; to ride a naked elephant signifies marriage; the elephant signifies a foreign ruler, an envious person, enmity, and hatred.

To see an elephant trainer in a dream signifies an artisan, a masterly person who teaches the young every kind of knowledge and skill.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has mounted an elephant will attain great success in his work. You will possess both money and esteem. You will also succeed in bringing everything under control in your professional and private life. It is a sign of fortune. It signifies becoming rich and successful by accomplishing what a person cannot comprehend.

According to Ibn Sirin: Whoever sees in his dream that he has mounted an elephant at night will marry. Whoever mounts it during the day will divorce his wife or dismiss his servant. According to one narration, mounting an elephant, whenever it may be, is a good sign. Whoever sees that he has loaded an elephant will be appointed to a great undertaking.

Whoever sees in a dream that an elephant has stepped upon his head with its foot and killed him will suffer a calamity. Whoever sees that he has mounted an elephant with two heads will leave the work in which he is employed and enter another occupation.

According to Kirmani: To see an elephant in a dream signifies a person of high station in the state. To mount an elephant is interpreted as rank; its hide, flesh, bones, and other parts are interpreted as property, benefit, and blessing.

To see oneself mounted upon an elephant during battle in a dream signifies overcoming and eliminating a powerful and great enemy. Whoever sees that he has fallen from an elephant will suffer affliction and calamity.

According to Jabir al-Maghribi: Whoever sees in a dream that he has mounted a naked elephant in order to travel will marry a woman. To see an elephant going from one quarter to another signifies that the government in that land will change.

To see in a dream that an elephant has taken him beneath its foot signifies that the ruler will do evil to the dreamer.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz: Whoever sees that he has mounted an elephant in a dream has departed from righteousness. According to one narration, mounting an elephant signifies acquiring a bad reputation. According to some interpreters, to mount an elephant or to see an elephant in a dream signifies sorrow. For just as the flesh of an elephant is not eaten, neither is its milk drunk. Whoever sees an elephant approaching him with things such as drums and pipes upon it, and mounts it, will attain a great position.

To see two elephants fighting one another in a dream signifies that two great statesmen will clash with each other. To see the elephant speaking with him signifies that he will converse with a great person.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq: To see an elephant in a dream is interpreted in seven ways: a head of state, a powerful man, an envious person, a cruel person, war, enmity, and oppression.

According to another narration: Whoever sees in a dream that he has mounted an elephant, owns one, or has prevailed over an elephant will draw near to the headship of the state, attain from him a high rank and station, and live a long life in honor and dignity. If a person sees in a dream that an elephant has torn apart one of his limbs, an affliction and calamity from the ruler will befall him. If the dreamer is ill, he will die.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has mounted an elephant during the day will divorce his wife. Whoever sees that he has mounted an elephant with its saddle, and that the elephant is obedient and submissive, will marry the daughter of a large-built man. If that person is a merchant, his trade will expand. Some interpreters said: The elephant is a generous, munificent, patient, governing, mild, and powerful ruler.

If he takes something from the elephant’s dung, the person will become wealthy in property according to the amount he sees taken from its dung. The elephant also signifies a righteous people, scholars, and the noblest among men. The elephant signifies falling into excessive troubles, mischief, and hardship, and then being delivered from them. If a person sees an elephant but does not mount it, he will suffer a deficiency in his desires and financial loss.

Some interpreters said: If a person sees an elephant in a city other than Medina in a dream, it signifies distress and lamentation. If he sees the elephant in the Radiant Medina, it signifies a man possessing blessings or an honorable person. If a person sees in a dream that the elephant frightens him or wishes to frighten him, it signifies illness.

If he sees in a dream that the elephant has taken him beneath its foot and mounted upon him, it signifies that the dreamer will die. If it does not take him beneath its foot, it signifies distress that will befall the dreamer and his deliverance from it. For women to see an elephant in any manner whatsoever does not signify good. Whoever sees the elephant speaking will attain great good from the ruler.

Whoever sees in a dream that the elephant is running and has fallen behind him will suffer loss. If the elephant catches him, harm from his enemy will reach him.

If a woman sees in a dream that she has mounted an elephant, it signifies that the woman will die. Whoever sees in a dream that he has mounted an elephant in a battle will die. Whoever sees that he has eaten elephant meat will obtain property. If he sees that he has taken something from one of the elephant’s limbs, or from its hide or bone, the interpretation is likewise. If an elephant is seen outside a city afflicted with the plague, the plague will depart from that city.

To see oneself killing an elephant in a dream signifies that the dreamer will wrong a person. If a person sees in a dream a group of people riding elephants and turning them this way and that, then, if they are in battle, it signifies their defeat. The dream of an elephant is considered auspicious. Whoever sees it covered with a green cloth will receive money from the air.

To ride a diseased and weak elephant in a dream and torment it signifies oppression and falsehood.

Ibn Sirin: To see an elephant in a dream signifies the ruler of Persia and a great and dangerous man. To see oneself mounting an elephant signifies attaining sovereignty and office; to see the elephant crushing oneself signifies falling into calamity.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
