Tiflisi’s Interpretations: Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq: There are eight interpretations of seeing a face or countenance in a dream:

1- Honour and greatness

2- Humiliation and baseness

3- Order in affairs

4- Piety

5- Sorrow

6- Becoming indebted

7- Doing good works

8- Obedience to Allah.

To see in a dream that you turn your face away for no apparent reason signifies that you will repent and turn to Allah, but that you will speak falsely.

Ibn Sirin: To see that your face has changed into another face and then returned to its former state signifies that you will return to the path of truth.

To see your face more beautiful than it actually is indicates that your esteem will increase.

To see your face become ugly signifies that your esteem among people will diminish.

Kirmani: Changes in the face are interpreted as follows:

To see your face reddened signifies goodness; to see it whitened signifies the beauty of your faith; to see it yellowed signifies that you will fall ill; and to see it blackened signifies that you will be disgraced among the people.

To see that your face is black while your garment is white signifies that you will have a daughter; to see your face black and covered with dust indicates that your appointed time is near.

To see your face wounded or bloody, or to see yellow fluids flowing from your face, signifies that your property will suffer damage.

To see your face turned upside down indicates that people will turn away from you and that you will suffer affliction on their account.

To see your face distorted indicates that your faith is corrupt.

To see a large amount of hair upon your face signifies that you will become indebted.

Jabir al-Maghribi: To see that you are looking at yourself in a mirror or in water, that you see yourself as exceedingly beautiful, or that someone tells you that you are beautiful, signifies that your affairs will proceed well and turn out favourably.

In the same dream, to see your face as ugly signifies that your affairs will take a turn for the worse; to see your face reddened signifies that you will quarrel with someone and become angry with him; to see it whitened signifies that you will occupy yourself with worship and perform good works; and to see it blackened indicates that you will experience certain troubles and become sorrowful.

To see a wound upon your face is interpreted as sorrow on account of women, in proportion to the extent of the wound.

To see an irritation upon your face signifies that you will experience a problem concerning women in matters of work.

Ismail al-Ash‘ath: To see that you have a beautiful and well-groomed face signifies that you will attain rank among the people; to see one of your faces smiling and the other weeping signifies that you will marry but will not get along well with your spouse.

Contemporary Scholars: To see that you have a beautiful face signifies that one of your wishes will be fulfilled; to see a beautiful face indicates happiness.

To see that your face is ugly signifies worry and anxiety; to see your own face signifies that you will receive good news; and to see a face with makeup indicates bad companions.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, work and responsibility, health and body, spiritual signs, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
