Flank / Rib

Imam Jaʿfar al-Sadiq: Seeing the flank in a dream has been interpreted in five ways:

1—A woman

2—A girl

3—A slave girl

4—A servant

5—It signifies an old woman residing in the house.

Ibn Sīrīn: The flank indicates a woman. To see in a dream that a swelling has formed in your left flank signifies that your wife is pregnant; to see that your flank has been wounded and is bleeding signifies that your wife will miscarry.

To see that you have placed your hands upon your flanks in a dream signifies that you will be greatly grieved.

Kirmānī: To see in a dream that your flank has been broken signifies that you will suffer grief on account of your parents or your wife; to see the skin of your left flank torn away and falling off signifies that you will lose both your property and your wife.

To feel pain in both flanks in a dream signifies that your wife will be offended; to see both your flanks joined together likewise signifies grief.

To see in a dream that your flank is large and sound signifies the correctness of your faith or that your wife is strong; to see that your flank has become smaller and weaker is interpreted in the opposite manner to the interpretation above.

Jābir al-Maghribī: Seeing the flank signifies women. For women were created from the flanks of men. Therefore, every kind of increase or deficiency seen in the flank is interpreted as pertaining to women.

To see in a dream that you have many flanks signifies that you will have as many women as the number of flanks you saw; to see a snake emerging from your flank signifies that you will have a child.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, emotional life, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
