Gallows / Being Hanged on the Gallows

Imam Jaʿfar al-Sadiq: Being hanged on the gallows in a dream is interpreted in four ways:

1- Leadership and esteem

2- Wealth

3- Greatness

4- Gossiping about people.

Allamah Majlisi: Seeing an execution scene in a dream means that you will attain leadership and esteem; seeing a gallows is interpreted as glory and renown.

Ibn Sirin: One day, someone came to me and said, “In my dream, they cut off both hands of one person and hanged another person on the gallows.” I said, “If you are telling the truth, today they will dismiss the governor of the city from his office and appoint another in his place.” That same day, they dismissed the governor of the city and appointed another in his place.

Kirmani: Seeing in a dream that you have been hanged on the gallows, but that people are not looking at you, indicates that you will receive esteem, but will apostatize from the religion.

Seeing in a dream that you have been hanged on the gallows and that the people are looking at you indicates that you will become the leader of a group.

Seeing in a dream that someone has hung human flesh on the gallows and that you eat it indicates that you will benefit from a person who will not leave the people alone.

Seeing in a dream that you have been hanged on the gallows and that blood is flowing from your body indicates that you will seek out people’s faults and, because of this, fall into sin.

Contemporary Scholars: Seeing in a dream that you have been hanged on the gallows indicates that you are in a period in which you will attain success; seeing someone hanged on the gallows indicates that your circumstances will improve.

Seeing that you are hanging on the gallows or remain suspended is interpreted as happiness, honor, and joy.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of health and body, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
