Giving Alms

Whoever sees in a dream that he is giving alms, if he is a scholar, he shall gain through his knowledge; if he is a statesman, his fame and honor shall increase; if he is a merchant, his trade shall prosper; and if he is an artisan, the people shall benefit from him. If he is poor, he shall become wealthy.

According to Kirmani: Seeing in a dream that one is giving alms is interpreted as deliverance from fear and anxiety, and safety from calamities and afflictions.

According to Cabir al-Maghribi: Whoever sees in a dream that he has given alms and gladdened a poor person, if he is ill, he shall recover. If he is in distress, it shall pass. If he is imprisoned, he shall be freed. If he is a sinner, Allah Most High shall grant him repentance. If he is without religion, he shall accept Islam.

Seeing in a dream that one is giving alms, in every circumstance, signifies happiness and prosperity. Whoever sees that he is distributing alms to everyone shall have blessing in his wealth.

According to Abdulgani Nablusi: Giving alms in a dream signifies the warding off of calamities, the recovery of the sick, sustenance and blessing, and divine bounty. To give dead animals, wine, and refuse as alms in a dream—that is, to see oneself giving one of the things that are not permissible as alms—indicates that one has undertaken an act in his own property or in another’s property that will bring evil upon them. For evil is requited with evil, and sin with sin.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has given a lawful and good thing as alms, if he is engaged in the trade of animals, he shall find blessing in that work; and if he is a farmer, he shall find blessing and abundance in his crops. Giving alms is goodness and blessing.

Seeing in a dream that one gives alms to one of the well-known wealthy people signifies that this wealthy person shall become poor and in need of alms. Giving alms in a dream to a harlot signifies that she shall repent; giving alms to a thief signifies that he shall desist from theft.

According to Ibn Kathir: Giving alms in a dream signifies increasing one’s wealth and driving one’s enemy to rage. Just as Satan is vanquished through almsgiving, so the dream of giving alms signifies goodness, blessing, and abundance of wealth.

Whoever secretly gives alms in a dream, if he is rebellious, his sins shall be forgiven. At times, giving alms also signifies drawing near to men of knowledge and the great.

Whoever sees in a dream that alms are requested from him and that he gives them, if he is a scholar, the people shall learn knowledge from him; if he is a statesman, his word shall carry authority; if he is a merchant, the people shall benefit from him. If he is an artisan, he shall raise many apprentices.

Feeding a poor person in a dream signifies safety from fear and deliverance from distress and grief; feeding one who has no religion signifies that he has brought down the strength of his enemy.

Seeing in a dream that one is giving alms sometimes signifies reciting the rosary, visiting graves, and reading the Qur’an. The interpretation of giving alms in a dream signifies safety from fear and anxiety, and deliverance from calamity and affliction.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.
