Ibn Sirin: To see in a dream that your hand has been cut off by a ruler or judge indicates that your sister or brother will die.

To see both your hands cut off in a dream indicates that you will experience hardship in your livelihood; to see yourself loosening one hand with the other indicates that you will act unjustly concerning your earnings.

To see yourself placing your palms one upon the other in a dream indicates that you will befriend two people, join them, or marry; to see yourself crippled indicates that your brother or partner will be imprisoned and that difficulties will arise in your affairs.

To see yourself walking upon your hands like four-footed animals in a dream indicates that you will ask for a need whose fulfillment is impossible and will obtain it only with difficulty; to see your hands trembling indicates that your work will deteriorate.

To see in a dream that your hand has dried up or is paralyzed from birth indicates that you will be deprived of charitable works such as almsgiving and the like.

To see yourself cutting your hand with a knife in a dream indicates that you will fall in love with someone. “When (the wife of the ruler) heard their gossip, she sent for them and prepared cushions for them to recline upon. She gave each of them a knife. (While the women were peeling their fruit, she) said to Joseph: ‘Come out before them!’ When the women saw him, they realized his greatness. (In their astonishment) they cut their hands.”[95]

Kirmani: To see yourself doing your tasks with your left hand indicates that you will engage in secret affairs and that your need will be fulfilled; to see that you have a needle in your hand and begin working with it indicates that you will strive to acquire knowledge and that you possess lofty aims.

To see in a dream that your hand has been cut off, but not to know which hand was cut off, indicates that you will suffer distress through the death of your brother, partner, or child. To see your hand larger and stronger than usual indicates that the condition of your brother, partner, or child will improve.

To see yourself reciting the Qur’an despite your hand being severed indicates that you will abandon unlawful things and choose the path of goodness; to see your right hand cut off because of a crime you have committed indicates that you are a liar and one who betrays trusts.

Jabir al-Maghribi: To see yourself grasping your neck with your hand indicates that you will perform righteous deeds such as prayer, pilgrimage, and jihad. To see that your hand has become short, or that your foot has become long and changed its form, indicates that your work will deteriorate.

To see in a dream that your hand has been transformed into a prophet or into an ascetic and righteous man indicates that Allah will guide you to the straight path, or that someone will repent and turn to Allah through you.

To see one of your hands becoming long in a dream indicates that your condition will improve and that you will attain what you desire; to see your hand speaking with you indicates that your livelihood is prosperous; to see pearls within mother-of-pearl in your hands indicates that you will recite the Noble Qur’an by sight.

Ismail al-Ash‘ath: To see your hand resembling the hand of a king indicates that you will gain esteem and attain rank; to see your right hand as a pearl indicates that you will lose your wealth.

To see in a dream a creature whose interpretation is auspicious emerge from your left hand and enter your right hand, or the reverse, indicates that your troubles will come to an end and your affairs will be set right; to see a creature whose interpretation is inauspicious in the same manner signifies the opposite of the dream mentioned above.

To see your right hand dried up or paralyzed in a dream indicates that your health is not good; to take someone’s hand into yours or to place your hand upon someone’s neck, while not knowing whether that person is alive, indicates that you will have a long life. To see yourself placing a silver bracelet upon the wrist of a polytheist indicates that a polytheist will become Muslim through you.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
