Hyena

Seeing a male hyena in a dream signifies an oppressive and deceitful enemy whose affairs are going awry. A female hyena denotes an impudent old hag who practices sorcery. It signifies that one will encounter a woman of evil character.

Seeing oneself together with a hyena in a dream is interpreted as marrying such a woman, but that this marriage will be short-lived.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has mounted a hyena shall marry an ugly woman. Whoever sees that he has struck a hyena with a stick, a dispute will arise between him and someone who is a relative of his wife. Whoever sees that he has killed a hyena with a spear shall have sexual intercourse with an ugly woman. Whoever sees that he has struck a hyena with a stone shall insult an ugly woman, or shall be brought before the courts with such a woman on an accusation of adultery.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has eaten hyena meat shall be bewitched by an ugly and immoral woman. Whoever sees that he has drunk hyena’s milk shall be subjected to deceit and enmity by such a woman.

Jaʿfar al-Sadiq (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Seeing a hyena in a dream is interpreted in three ways: an ugly and immoral wife, sorcery, and deceit.

According to another narration: The hyena seen in a dream is an oppressive and deceitful enemy. The female hyena is an impudent old hag who practices sorcery. Whoever sees in a dream that he has eaten the meat of a female hyena shall be bewitched, while he himself will not know of this condition. Yet it is hoped that this sorcery will be undone.

Ibn Sirin: Seeing a hyena in a dream signifies an oppressive, unjust, and treacherous enemy, whose actions are prompted by the direction of an old witch of evil and ugly deeds. Seeing oneself eating hyena meat signifies that one has been bewitched and is unaware of it, while in his subconscious he desires to be freed from this evil magic. Riding a hyena signifies marriage. A lame hyena signifies a witch, the wife of an unknown person, an unemployed or idle person, or a trickster. Riding a hyena also signifies gaining authority. The hyena may likewise denote the disclosure of secrets, interfering in the affairs of others, femininity, hermaphroditism, an ill-fated spouse, or an ugly, treacherous, and faithless woman.

Therefore, when interpreted as a woman, it signifies marrying such a woman. Shooting arrows at a hyena signifies corresponding in writing with such a woman; throwing stones or walnuts signifies slandering a woman; striking it with a sword signifies attacking such a woman with evil words; and drinking hyena’s milk signifies suffering harm through betrayal on account of such a woman. Stabbing a hyena signifies engaging in trade with such a woman, managing her affairs, or marrying one of her family members. Acquiring the skin, bones, or hair of a hyena signifies benefiting from such a woman and making use of her money. If the hyena in the dream is male, it signifies a guilty and base person.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of emotional life, work and responsibility, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
