Land, Place and Ground

Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq: There are four interpretations of seeing land and ground in a dream: 1—A woman 2—The world 3—Wealth 4—Governance.

The Prophet Daniel (peace be upon him): Land or ground signifies a woman. To see that you possess a clean, long and broad piece of land surrounded by walls signifies that you have a chaste and pure wife. To see in a dream that you possess a boundless tract of land indicates that you will marry and derive benefit from your wife.

To see various plants and greenery growing on land belonging to you signifies that you follow the religion of Islam. For greenery in a dream denotes the religion of Islam.

Ibn Sirin: To see particular vegetables growing on the land signifies that you are a person possessed of virtue and piety, and that you will obtain reward in the Hereafter.

To see in a dream that you are in an unknown desert indicates that you will set out on a distant journey. To see yourself digging a place and eating its soil signifies that you will find as much wealth as the amount of soil you ate; to see yourself digging the ground in order to open a well signifies that you will acquire worldly wealth through deception.

To see that you have been buried in the ground signifies that you will experience grief and distress, and that your wealth will be wasted because of a woman. To see yourself sowing seeds or planting a tree in your own land signifies that your sustenance will increase and your livelihood will become easy.

Jabir al-Maghribi: To see yourself selling a piece of land belonging to you signifies that you will experience distress; to see your land carried away by a flood and ruined signifies that you will suffer harm at the hands of a person of authority.

To see in a dream that the ground speaks to you and gives you good tidings signifies that you will obtain worldly and religious benefits to such an extent as to astonish people, and that you will be remembered with goodness after your death.

To see the ground gathered together beneath your feet in a dream is interpreted as a sign that your appointed time of death is approaching. To see a portion of the ground gathered together beneath your feet signifies that you will encounter difficulty in your livelihood; to see that the same place belongs to someone you know signifies that the owner of the land will attain ease in his livelihood.

To see yourself expanding a place belonging to you in a dream signifies that your life will be prolonged. To see yourself walking across a piece of land indicates that you will set out on a journey.

Isma‘il al-Ash‘ath: To see yourself ploughing a place or piece of land belonging to you signifies that you will acquire a great profession, derive benefit from a woman, or gain profit on a journey that you undertake. To see a cultivated and flourishing place belonging to you in a dream indicates that your career in business will rise.

To see a bad and ruined place belonging to you in a dream signifies that your affairs will deteriorate or that hostility will arise between you and another person.

To see that you are in the midst of a cultivated field signifies that you will enter into partnership with someone or marry. To see yourself standing bewildered in the middle of a piece of land, and a rose blooming there, signifies that you will marry a pious and God-fearing woman and have a child by her.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.

In the interpretation, the themes of home and environment, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
