The Jay

Whoever sees a jay in his dream, this dream is a sign that he is an arrogant, miserly, exceedingly mendacious person who does not keep his word. Likewise, seeing a jay indicates seeing something at which one will be astonished.

According to another interpretation, seeing a jay denotes long life and the continuance of possessions and benefits. At the same time, the crow is interpreted as elderly women. This interpretation is on account of the crow’s longevity.

Whoever sees in his dream that he is hunting a crow, it is interpreted that he will acquire unlawful property amid poverty and distress.

If someone sees a crow upon a house in his dream, this dream is interpreted as a sinful person betraying the dreamer concerning his wife.

If he sees in a dream that the crow speaks words to someone, it indicates that the dreamer will have a sinful child.

To possess a crow in a dream indicates a sinful child. Seeing a great many crows denotes certain men who talk excessively. Seeing a crow digging up the ground in a dream indicates undertaking a deed of which one will repent.

If someone sees in his dream that he is eating crow meat, it means that property will come into his possession through thieves; and if someone sees in his dream that he is digging the ground, it is interpreted that he will kill his brother.

For the son of Adam (peace be upon him), named Cain, killed his brother Abel, and when he did not know how to bury him, God Most High sent two crows. One of the crows killed the other. Then it dug the ground and buried its slain companion. Cain, seeing this, did the same.

(Whoever sees in his dream that the crow is scratching him, it indicates that he will perish in severe cold, and that evil, pain, trouble, and sorrow will befall him from a sinful and immoral people.

The crow is the herald of winter. Therefore, seeing a crow denotes the coldness of the weather and suffering distress and anguish. Seeing a crow upon crops or trees is not interpreted favorably. At times, seeing a crow also denotes attachment to one’s livelihood and exertion in this matter.

Jabir al-Maghribi said: Seeing in a dream that a crow is speaking with him indicates benefit from a stranger and good news.

Al-Nabulsi (may God have mercy upon him) said: Seeing a crow fall upon the Kaaba in a dream denotes that a sinful person will marry a righteous and chaste woman. Seeing in a dream that the jay has given birth denotes glad tidings and joy.

According to Ibn Sirin’s interpretation: Such a dream is interpreted as indicating that the person who sees it will grieve exceedingly, but will ultimately be delivered from that grief. Seeing a crow in a dream indicates parting from a friend and going into exile.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.
