Making Thread

To see in a dream that one is making thread from camel’s wool, goat’s hair, and the like signifies that the dreamer will undertake a journey and thereby obtain good. Whoever sees that he is making thread from flax, cotton, or similar materials will suffer insult. If it is a woman who sees that she is making thread, someone of hers who is in a foreign land will return; and if she intends to set out on a journey, she will do so. Alternatively, one of her relatives will undertake a journey, or she will benefit from a work she has performed.

To see in a dream that one is unraveling thread signifies that the dreamer will break his oath. If the dreamer is a woman, she will give birth to a daughter, or receive news she did not expect. Whoever sees that the thread breaks while he is making it—if he has a man of his in a foreign land, that man will not return; and if he himself wishes to set out on a journey, he will be unable to do so.

According to Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz: To see in a dream that one is making thread from wool signifies that the dreamer’s property will leave his hand. Whoever sees that he is twisting goat’s hair will undertake a journey from which no good will come. Twisting thread or braiding it like a cord is interpreted as a journey, perseverance in an undertaking, and matters such as partnership and marriage.

Whoever sees in his dream that he has made thread, woven with it, and completed the work will die. According to Kirmani: Whoever sees that he has woven and completed a garment will set out on a journey and obtain what he desires. Conversely, whoever sees that he has been unable to complete it will not attain his wish.

According to al-Salimi: To see in a dream that one is weaving something is interpreted as thought, occupation, and sorrow. Whoever sees that he has completed what he was weaving will be delivered from these. Whoever sees several persons occupied with weaving in his house will quarrel with several of his relatives.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
