Minbar

To see a minbar in a dream signifies the head of state, prime minister, governor, imam, or scholar. To ascend the minbar signifies attaining one of these offices for those qualified for it, and gaining a good reputation for others; the minbar signifies attaining the thing desired; and for a bachelor, it denotes marrying the woman he desires.

To see oneself ascending the minbar in a dream means that one will rise in one’s work and profession and earn a great deal of money. To sit upon the minbar in a dream indicates that one will spend time together with the people one loves.

The interpretation of seeing a minbar in a dream is that of a dignitary of the state. To see the minbar adorned signifies that the head of government is just; to see the minbar dirty denotes the contrary. To see knowledge being spoken of upon the minbar or a sermon being delivered indicates that beneficial deeds are expected from the dignitary of the state; to see the preacher descend from the minbar after leaving his sermon unfinished signifies that he will be dismissed from preaching; to see a woman delivering the sermon indicates that the dreamer is badly known among the people; and to see the preacher fall from the minbar signifies that the dreamer will be subjected to insult.

According to Salimi: To see a minbar in a dream is interpreted as a guardian, imam, or scholar. Whatever good or evil state is seen upon the minbar is compared to one of these, according to the form and manner of the dream and the dreamer’s condition and station. Whoever sees himself ascending the minbar will become a high-ranking official. This dream is not auspicious for one who is unworthy of it. Whoever sees himself saying inappropriate things upon the minbar will become known through calamity and sin. Whoever sees himself saying things befitting the minbar will attain goodness and blessing.

According to another narration: The minbar seen in a dream signifies the Arab sultan, the community of Islam, and the exalted station mentioned by Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in His Book. If a person sees in a dream that he is upon a minbar and speaks words concerning goodness, and if he is qualified and capable of ascending the minbar and addressing people there, then that person, being a good man, will attain blessing and authority. If he is not qualified or capable of ascending the minbar and preaching there, then that person will attain renown for goodness.

If a person sees in a dream a man upon a minbar although he is neither qualified nor capable of it, this signifies that the man will be unjustly executed and that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will ward evil from him. The minbar signifies governorship and vanquishing enemies. At times, it also signifies the woman desired by the person upon the minbar; if he has no such desire, it signifies that he will become known through disgrace.

The sultan’s ascending the minbar in a dream signifies the continuation of his sovereignty and his overcoming and vanquishing his enemy. If he sees himself delivering an address upon a minbar with his hands behind his back, this signifies that he will be executed or that he is a sinful person.
