Memory

In a dream, seeing a memory is essentially interpreted together with the images connected to that memory for the dreamer. The interpretation of seeing a memory in a dream indicates that there are matters which have occupied the person’s mind for a long time. If the person has fallen into a difficult situation in his dream because of one of his memories, he will receive joyful news in waking life. Conversely, if he has become happy because of a memory he experienced, there are certain difficulties awaiting him in the life of this world.

Memories are events that affect a person deeply. They may completely change one’s life, or they may merely be described as an event that has remained superficially in the past. If one of a person’s memories enters his dream, it may be connected with the people mentioned in that memory. In his dream, the people who are the subject of his memory are speaking about the dreamer or are trying to find that person.

What does it mean to see a memory in a dream: It indicates that the dreamer is someone dependent upon many things. The things upon which he is dependent may be material objects, just as they may be spiritual sentiments. Generally, it expresses a character who is obsessive about a spiritual feeling, such as a beloved.

If a memory related to one’s beloved is seen in a dream, it indicates that he has been unable to forget that person and is in need of his love. If the dreamer frees himself from this dependent nature and these thoughts, he will live a happier and more peaceful life in the remainder of his life.

To see oneself recounting a memory in a dream is interpreted as longing for a person. If the dreamer is abroad, he longs for his homeland; if he is serving in the army, he longs for his beloved; and if he is studying in another province, he longs for his mother and father. The person will reunite with his loved ones and put an end to his longing in the shortest time. Recounting a memory in a dream is a good thing. The person will cast off the burden upon him and henceforth feel more at ease.

To recount an old memory in a dream is interpreted to mean that the dreamer’s present life will change completely. The person may move to a new city and establish a life there, or he may meet someone within a short time and marry by a sudden decision.

To recount an old memory before a large gathering in one’s dream indicates that the person is filled with knowledge and wisdom. This person is one whose word is trusted and from whose speech lessons are drawn. An old memory that is recounted will deeply affect one of the people in this gathering, and that person will make certain radical decisions in his life.

To mention one’s memory in a letter that he has written in his dream is interpreted as auspicious news that the dreamer will receive. If the dreamer mentions his memory in his letter and tries to guide a person toward the right path, he is awaiting that person with glad tidings. This news may be a baby who will newly enter the household, or it may be an inheritance left by someone. (To see old memories in one’s dream expresses that the person does not love the life he is presently living and finds consolation in his old memories. Dreams are a reflection of the subconscious. Therefore, if the dreamer is occupied with his old memories in his dream, it necessarily means that he is constantly thinking of his old memories and is filled with regret. Old memories carry the meaning of yearning for events experienced in the past. Particularly if the dreamer is advanced in age, the person is undergoing difficulties because of his loneliness and is complaining of his present condition.

Seeing a memory book in a dream indicates that the troubles suffered by the person will continue for some time longer and that, because of the dreamer’s extravagance, he will never be able to free himself from paying debts. A memory book is like a mirror of a person’s life. A person may carry into his dream the things he wishes to happen in real life.

If the person who sees a memory book in his dream is someone who has reached the age of maturity, he is recording every event he experiences. This person’s resentment as well as his love is exceedingly intense. It may also be interpreted as reconciliation, through an intermediary, with the person toward whom he has long borne resentment and with whom he has sworn never to make peace. (To see oneself becoming immersed in old memories in a dream is interpreted to mean that an event which previously affected the dreamer very deeply will, after having been forgotten for a long time, recur psychologically. It is interpreted as a healthy relative becoming ill and as the ending of a relationship that has continued for years.

To see a military-service memory in a dream indicates that the choices you have made will not be approved by your family and that you will therefore be questioned continually. Some of your friends will also cause you great sorrow concerning this matter, and you will experience spiritual tension.

Positive Meaning

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Shadow Meaning

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

Advice

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
