Mortar and Pestle

To see a household mortar in a dream signifies the solidarity and mutual assistance of husband and wife; the mortar used by chemists and goldsmiths signifies earnings acquired through the labour of the hands and the toil of the eyes; the mortar sometimes denotes honour and exalted rank, a child who reads, or a person who speaks excessively.

A mortar in a dream is an indication of sorrow. To pound something with a bronze mortar in a dream signifies that you are considering what to do concerning certain matters and are unable to make a decision.

To see oneself pounding something dry in a mortar in a dream signifies that you are waiting in vain hope, but that your hope will not become reality. To pound garlic in a mortar is auspicious.

According to another narration: To see a mortar and its pestle in a dream indicates a husband and wife who are able jointly to accomplish that difficult task which other people cannot accomplish for them. The mortar signifies honour and exalted rank, and a child who reads.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, work and responsibility, health and body, spiritual signs, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
