The Vessel in Which a Lamp Is Placed

Sayyid Sulayman: The lamp-vessel seen in a dream signifies livelihood for its owners. If the lamp-vessel is of the kind that is carried and moved about within the house, it signifies the master of the household who attends to the affairs of the people of the house. If the lamp-vessel is of bronze, it signifies enduring good; if it is of earthenware, it signifies good and property that do not endure.

The lamp-vessel seen in a dream is a man’s life and nature. That is to say, the spirit within man’s body is like the lamp within the lamp-vessel; the human body is like the lamp; and the moisture and dampness of the lamp-wick and oil are like a man’s blood.

If some harm befalls the spirit and blood, which in the body are in the place of the wick and oil, that man will perish by the decree and predestination of Allah (Exalted is He).

If one sees in a dream that the oil and wick have perished within the lamp-vessel, that person’s life will perish and depart. If he sees that the oil and wick are clean, his life will be pure; and if he sees them dirty, his life too will pass amid sorrow, grief, and anguish.

If one sees in a dream that, because the lamp-vessel is cracked, the oil within it is flowing out, he will be afflicted with an illness, like persistent diarrhoea, from which recovery will not be possible until his death.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of health and body, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
