Whoever sees in a dream that Umar (R.A.) has beaten him with a whip and threatened him with punishment should turn back from the state in which he is.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has taken on the form of Umar (R.A.) or put on his garment will be granted something suited to his condition. At times, such a person may die as a martyr. If someone sees Umar (R.A.) joyful in a dream, this signifies that the dreamer adheres to the Sunnah.

Seeing Umar (R.A.) in a dream signifies that, in the era of that person, justice was upheld and regard was shown for the truth; that the duty of “commanding the right and forbidding the wrong” was known by all; and that the times were announced by the call to prayer. For it was Umar (R.A.) who was the cause of the times being announced by the call to prayer.

Seeing Umar (R.A.) in a dream signifies making peace after enmity, love after hatred, obtaining one’s share on account of kinship, and choosing asceticism while being powerful and mighty in the world.

If the ruler sees Umar (R.A.) in a dream, he will conquer cities. He will duly fulfil the religious duties. He will appear awe-inspiring to those who contend with him, to those who oppose his command, and to the hypocrites; and although he will show mercy and compassion to his subjects, he will adopt an opposing stance toward them.
