To see oneself pregnant in a dream, whether a woman or a man, signifies goodness and benevolence, and increase in knowledge and wealth; the pregnancy of an old woman signifies abundance after famine; the maiden and the widow seeing themselves pregnant signifies their marrying; and the pregnancy of a barren woman and of male animals signifies that that year will pass in drought.

To see a pregnant woman in a dream denotes hidden matters, sorrow, and grief. Dreams of pregnancy are interpreted as evil and mean distress. Whoever sees in his dream that he is pregnant shall encounter great distress. It means that this distress will not end easily. It is affliction: distress concerning work, problems concerning the household, and grief.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz: a woman’s seeing herself pregnant signifies wealth; a man’s seeing himself pregnant signifies sadness and grief. Whether the dreamer be a man or a woman, seeing pregnancy denotes wealth and the goods of this world in proportion to the size of the belly. A child who has not yet reached puberty seeing himself pregnant is interpreted through his father, while a little girl seeing that she is pregnant is interpreted through her mother.

Kirmani says: The wealth of one who sees in his dream that he is pregnant shall increase. Whoever sees his wife pregnant desires something of the goods of this world. Pregnancy, whether for a man or a woman, is auspicious in every case. To see one of the animals pregnant is goodness and benefit.

According to another narration: a woman who sees herself pregnant in a dream shall have an increase in her wealth, be praised, and attain might and honour. A man’s seeing himself pregnant signifies fears that he conceals from people and fears will be exposed, and signifies heavy sorrow and grief. Pregnancy, whether of a male or a female, signifies worldly increase for the person who sees the dream.

To see a pregnant woman in a dream signifies sorrow, grief, and hidden matters. The pregnancy of men signifies an increase in knowledge for a learned man, and for a craftsman or professional, doing something which no one else can do. At times, a man’s pregnancy signifies his falling into sorrow and grief. At times, pregnancy signifies love and affection. At times, the dream signifies one who brings a man and a woman together in one place, or illness, or a thief entering his house, or his concealing from its owner something that he has stolen.

A man’s pregnancy in a dream signifies that he will destroy himself with a rope. At times, a beloved person among the foreign dead is buried near that man. At times, he assists in impossible matters and becomes a liar. At times, he conceals unsound faith and doctrine.

A single girl’s seeing herself pregnant in a dream signifies misfortune and hardship that will befall her family on account of her. At times, it signifies an evil, such as a theft or fire, that will occur in the place where that girl is. At times, it signifies that a jinn will touch that girl, or that she will marry someone unsuitable and unworthy of her, or that she will remain in the house for a long period.

The pregnancy of a barren woman or of animals in a dream signifies famine in the year, scarcity of animals, strife brought by thieves, and the abundance of evil.

To see a barren woman or one of the male animals give birth to an animal in a dream signifies the removal of evil and hardship, and that a fear and sorrow will come to light. If someone sees his wife pregnant, it signifies that he desires something from the wares of this world. It signifies an increase in the wealth and worldly possessions of one who sees himself pregnant. Pregnancy is good in every condition, whether for a woman or a man. A widow and a maiden seeing themselves pregnant signifies their marrying.

Dreams of pregnancy are never interpreted favourably. Pregnancy directly denotes troubles. Whoever sees in his dream that he is pregnant shall encounter great anguish and distress. This distress may be so great as to be beyond his ability to overcome, and it will not end easily. Dreams of pregnancy may signify unemployment, problems concerning the household, and grief concerning one’s beloved.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
