Qadi
According to Ibn Sirin: Whoever sees in his dream that he has become a qadi and is passing judgment among the people will suffer loss and various calamities, provoke the opposition of the people, and have his wealth, property, and belongings taken from him. If the one who sees this dream is on a journey, his road will be blocked, and he will return to his homeland with hardship and difficulty. He will suffer much loss. If he truly possesses enough knowledge to become a qadi, he will become one, and his affairs will be set right. He will find goodness and benefit and become happy.
Kirmani said: Whoever sees in his dream that he is a well-known qadi, or sees such a qadi, will have his position and rank increased. Seeing an unknown qadi in a dream signifies attaining goodness and blessing.
Seeing a judge in a dream is interpreted according to the judgment delivered by that judge. If the judgment given by the judge is auspicious, the dream is interpreted as goodness; otherwise, it is interpreted as evil. Seeing a judge holding scales in his hand signifies that right and justice prevail in that place.
Seeing a recognized and well-known judge in a dream is goodness and blessing. Seeing in a dream that a judge has come to the place where one is signifies honor and authority; seeing oneself go to the place where the judge is signifies honor and an increase in one’s worth. If a sick judge sees that he has sent a man to summon him, this is evidence that his appointed hour is near.
Seeing a court in a dream: if it is illuminated, it signifies that right and justice prevail in that place; if it is dark, it signifies that there is no justice in the judgments. Seeing the hearings of two parties being conducted in court signifies that the person in whose favor the judge rules will gain benefit, while the person against whom he rules will suffer insult. Seeing oneself being tried before the judge signifies that one will be called to account for the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.
According to Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi: Seeing a qadi or judge is interpreted, according to the manner in which the dream is seen and in consideration of the dreamer’s condition and circumstances, as goodness or evil, profit or loss, justice or oppression, elevation or abasement. Seeing the judge seated in his appointed place in the court in order to issue a judgment signifies that justice exists in that place and that the dreamer will attain justice. Seeing the judge descend from the place where he is, and witnessing that he has been brought down, signifies that he will be dismissed from his office or work, or that justice is absent.
Seeing the judge ruling while naked in a dream signifies that he will err in his judgment. Seeing him wearing a garment that is unbecoming and considered shameful signifies a deficiency in justice; conversely, seeing him dressed very elegantly signifies that his esteem among the people will increase.
According to another narration: Whoever sees in a dream that he is a qadi and rules with justice, if he is a merchant, he will become fair-minded. If he is a craftsman or occupied with matters of weights and measures, he likewise will not depart from honesty. Whoever sees himself ruling tyrannically among the people, if he is a governor, he will be dismissed. If he is none of these, then, because of a calamity to which he will become afflicted, there will be a change in the blessings of Allah (Exalted is He) bestowed upon him, and he will be deprived of that blessing.
