Saddle and Bridle

To see a saddle upon a horse in a dream is a sign of honour and greatness. Whoever sees that his saddle has broken will lose his spouse or become ill.

According to Jabir al-Maghribi: Whoever sees in a dream that his saddle is adorned with precious stones will become wealthy because of a woman. Whoever sees that his saddle is decorated with gold or silver, his spouse will be proud, self-admiring, and also heedless toward religion. If the saddle is not adorned, the dream is interpreted in the contrary manner.

If one sees in a dream that he has removed the saddle of the animal he is riding and never uses it again, separation will arise between him and his wife. Or that person will divorce his wife, or enter into certain things that he dislikes and considers evil.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has bought a saddle or that someone has given one to him will marry a wealthy woman, or money and property in great amount will come into his hands from an inheritance. Whoever sees that his saddle has been lost will separate from his spouse.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz: To see a saddle in a dream denotes a chaste, beautiful, and wealthy spouse. To ride upon a saddle signifies gain. Whoever sees that he has mounted a saddle will succeed in all his affairs and rise in station.

To see in a dream that the bridle of one’s horse has broken or been lost is a sign that one’s honour has diminished. To see a bridle in one’s mouth like that of a horse is interpreted as repentance. Such a person must strictly avoid evil speech. To see a bridle in the mouth of one’s servant is interpreted as discipline. To see oneself putting a bridle into someone’s mouth means that one is teaching him discipline and propriety.

Whoever sees in a dream that the saddle upon the horse is torn to shreds and is in such a condition that no one can sit comfortably upon the horse will experience serious weariness from working at his occupation. In order that this weariness may not turn into a serious illness, the person must create circumstances in which he can rest himself.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq (R.A.): To see a bridle in a dream is interpreted in three ways: honour, silence, and discipline.

According to another narration: If a person sees in a dream that he possesses a saddle, he will marry. If the saddle seen in a dream is not upon the back of an animal, it signifies his wife.

If a person sees in a dream that a dog, a pig, or a donkey has mounted the saddle belonging to him, it is a sign that a sinful person will betray him with his wife.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, home and environment, spiritual signs, work and responsibility should be considered together with the emotional tone in the dream and how the symbol concluded in the dream.
