Sayyid Sulayman: If an ignorant person sees in his dream that he is a scholar and has made the people accept his word, he will be subjected to insult. Action will be taken against him.

If a scholar sees the same dream, it is interpreted as great worth and honour. However, if he sees that an evil condition has arisen in him, he will be exposed to the mockery of the people.

Whoever sees a scholar seat him beside himself, converse with him, and speak fine words to him shall attain goodness and benefit.

Whoever sees that he has been expelled from the presence of a scholar, or rebuked angrily, his faith will diminish. He will suffer abasement and insult among the people. He will be humiliated.

Ja‘far al-Sadiq interprets this dream as signifying the following: great worth, rank, station, and esteem.

Whoever sees that he kisses the hand of a scholar will benefit from his knowledge. Whoever sees that the scholar gives him something will possess great esteem in this world and the Hereafter, and his station will be exalted.

Whoever sees that he has become a scholar and makes the people kiss his hand will do them good and be beneficial to them.

Seeing a scholar occupied with teaching is a sign that the number of the learned and pious people will increase. Receiving instruction from a scholar denotes benefiting from the knowledge of the learned.

Whoever sees that the scholar kisses him shall attain honour and station. Whoever sees that he wears the garments of the learned and goes about in them will, if he is not worthy of them, act hypocritically and deceive the people.

Whoever is invited by a scholar will enter the service of the state; whoever is raised to a high place will follow their path and receive the respect of the people.

Seeing a renowned scholar fall from a high place is a sign that that scholar will lose his esteem.

Whoever sees that he acts according to the counsel of a scholar will heed the words of his elders and gain their approval.

Whoever sees in his dream that he strives with all his strength to become a scholar will receive the recompense for his efforts and attain success in a matter.

Whoever sees in his dream that scholars are quarrelling with one another will witness a new development or discovery in knowledge.

Whoever sees in his dream a scholar reprimanding the populace—if he himself is among that populace—it means that he is committing a wrongful act.

Ibn Sirin: To see religious scholars and jurists in a dream, refer to “jurists and scholars.” It signifies knowledge and the giving of legal opinions.

Ibn Sirin: To see a scholar in a dream signifies glad tidings, promotion, or commendation, and represents one who speaks what he knows and puts it into practice. To see in a dream one of the Companions of the Prophets, a scholar, or a righteous person denotes goodness, knowledge, and guidance.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
