Slave

If a free person sees in a dream that he has become the slave of someone, it signifies incurring a debt in a manner that will injure his character and identity, submitting to that person’s wishes because of the evil of one who knows his secrets, sorrow and grief, and becoming captive to the circumstances in which he finds himself. Remaining a slave also signifies true servitude to Allah and attaining goodness.

Seeing a slave in a dream means that you will be delivered from the things that frighten and cause you anxiety. Seeing oneself as a slave in a dream is interpreted as rising in one’s working life by receiving the due reward for one’s labor.

If a free person sees in a dream that he is a slave, and knows the person who has enslaved him, then sometimes that person makes him his slave by assisting him while awake. At other times, because that person is aware of his faults, he makes him his servant and slave. It may also signify that the dreamer will borrow money and become, in a manner, like a slave to the one from whom he borrows, or that he will become the laborer of another person.

Whoever sees in a dream that his master has sold him will attain honor and renown, and at times will be afflicted with severity and humiliation. At times, by analogy with the famous story of Joseph (A.S.), the person sold in a dream will attain goodness. At times, seeing oneself as a slave in a dream signifies that one is a mature servant of Allah (C.C.), commanding good, forbidding evil, performing the obligatory prayers, giving the zakat, and fearing Allah (C.C.).

The interpretation of being a slave in a dream is sorrow and grief. Whoever sees that he is a slave will be visited by sorrow and grief. Whoever sees that he has been sold will suffer distress. However, if the woman who purchases him is a woman, then that person will be shown a kindness in the amount of the money for which he was sold. If a woman without a husband sees in a dream that she has become a concubine, she will marry. If a married woman sees that she has sold herself, her husband will divorce her. If a person sees in a dream that he is the slave of his enemy, his enemy will make him repentant and wretched.

Ibn Sirin: See “restructuring,” “bankruptcy,” “fraudulent bankruptcy,” and “slave” in a dream. It signifies the restructuring of debts or the reorganization of affairs.

Ibn Sirin: If a free man sees himself as a slave and knows in the dream the person who has enslaved him, it signifies that he will serve such a person, or perhaps that he will blackmail him. Being a slave in a dream may also signify borrowing excessive amounts of money until one becomes a slave to one’s creditors, or that the accumulated interest becomes burdensome upon one’s family, or that one will reorganize one’s work, or that one may work for one’s creditor in order to pay one’s debts, or that one may develop heart problems or any debilitating illness.

If he is sold as a slave in a dream, it signifies that he will regain his honor and reputation, or perhaps that he will fall into a trap, for selling a free person in a dream means humiliating him. Selling a person in a dream also signifies a fine outcome, as in the story of Allah’s prophet Joseph, peace be upon him. If a captive sees himself as free in a dream, it signifies that he will experience ease after being subjected to hardships and distress, or that he will pay his debts, recover from illness, attain his aims, or perhaps become a true servant of Allah Almighty, commanding good, forbidding evil, performing his prayers regularly, giving his zakat, and fearing injustice.

Being a slave in a dream also signifies distress. Being sold in a dream likewise signifies anxieties; however, if the buyer is a woman, it signifies that he will be treated honorably and well. His worth and comfort will then depend upon the price for which he was sold in the dream. If an unmarried woman is sold as a slave in a dream, it signifies that she will marry the person who purchases her. If a man sells his wife in a dream, it signifies that he will divorce her. If a person is captured by his enemy and turned into a slave in a dream, it signifies that he will learn something about humiliation and submission.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
