Cauterization

Cauterization seen on the chest in a dream signifies taking upon oneself the affairs of the people; blood or pus issuing from the place cauterized signifies remaining for a long time in authority; being cauterized or cauterizing someone signifies hearing a distressing word or being accused of a charge; being cauterized because of an illness signifies health; being cauterized with fire signifies failing to pay the zakat or accepting a position in the service of an evil and unjust rule; being cauterized sometimes signifies hearing painful words, falling in love with someone, or attaining the rank of sainthood by patiently enduring afflictions.

Seeing cauterization in a dream is interpreted as wealth that has been spent. According to one narration, it signifies the illness of its possessor. Some have interpreted seeing cauterization in a dream as painful words. Others say that it signifies steadfastness in one’s work, marriage, travel, or, for a woman, giving birth to a child.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, seeing cauterization is an indication of a great rank.

According to Kirmani: Whoever sees in his dream that he has been cauterized and that blood or pus has issued from it shall remain for a long time in government service; if neither blood nor pus issues from it, it signifies remaining in that service for a short time.

According to Daniel, peace be upon him: Whoever sees in his dream that he has been cauterized or has cauterized someone hears an empty word of no benefit and is inwardly hurt by it, or is accused of a crime. If the cauterization is performed to prevent or cure an illness, it signifies the goodness of the dreamer.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq: Whoever sees in his dream that he is being cauterized with fire will be unable to pay his zakat or will serve under a great person of the state.

According to another narration: Cauterization in a dream indicates wealth that has been expended, and sometimes the illness of its possessor. Some interpreters have said that seeing cauterization is an indication of a great rank. Whoever sees that he has cauterized someone hears a word of no benefit. Seeing oneself cauterized in a dream indicates investing money in an unfavorable place.

Seeing one’s body cauterized in a dream indicates engaging in matters whose evil is greater than their good. If a person sees in a dream that he has been cauterized on the forehead or cheek, it indicates failure to pay zakat. If he sees in a dream that he has been cauterized with gold or silver, it indicates that person’s miserliness or his failure to pay the zakat due on gold and silver. Seeing oneself cauterized with iron indicates that he will commit sins.

Whoever sees in a dream that he bears an old or new cauterization mark shall obtain worldly wealth from a hidden treasure. If a person sees in a dream that he is cauterizing another human being with a cauterization that causes anguish and pain, that person will be distressed because of an evil word uttered by the dreamer. If the cauterization is circular, it indicates steadfastness in the affairs of the ruler.

Whoever sees in a dream that one of his veins or his knee has been cauterized will have a daughter or marry a woman. Alternatively, he will slander his wife because of a stranger.

Ibn Sirin: Cauterization in a dream indicates a ruler or words that cause pain. Seeing one’s forehead or temples cauterized indicates preventing the distribution of alms or the zakat of one’s property, the pressure exerted by the authorities upon tax evaders, or separation from one’s loved ones. Being cauterized with gold or silver indicates miserliness or preventing the payment of Allah’s rights over the poor; being cauterized with iron indicates punishment because of one’s sins. Seeing old cauterization marks indicates finding a buried treasure, while cauterizing someone indicates uttering painful and harsh words. If the cauterization mark appears like a round seal, it indicates submitting to a court judgment.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, emotional life, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
