To descend from a high place in a dream signifies losing one’s material and spiritual condition; to the extent that one descends from a hill, vehicle, or conveyance, to that same extent does one become distant from one’s aim.

To descend from a mountain in a dream signifies goodness and beauty; to descend from a roof or rooftop signifies becoming distant from one’s present condition; to descend a staircase signifies decline in trade and craftsmanship; if the staircase breaks while descending, it indicates that the enemy will prevail over that person.

Whoever sees in his dream that he has descended from a place will lose his rank. Whoever sees himself descending a staircase will miss an important opportunity.

Descending in a dream is interpreted as separation. To see oneself descending from a high place signifies that one will rise in the rank one occupies. Whoever sees that, while upon a tree, he has descended to the ground will pass from grief into relief. According to another report: To descend from a high place in a dream signifies separating from the conditions in which a person finds himself, such as rank, wife, religion, and creed. If he sees himself descending from a small hill, from something upon which he is riding, or from a high place, it signifies, according to the measure and worth of the place to which he descends, that his desire and wish will become more difficult to attain.

For a person to see himself descending from a mountain in a dream is auspicious. At times, descending from a height signifies becoming abased and wretched. Some interpreters said that this dream signifies becoming a leader in religion while attaining the blessings of this world. Whoever sees himself descending from a mountain in a dream will be freed from sorrow. Other interpreters have interpreted this dream as signifying the deterioration of affairs and the impossibility of attaining one’s wishes.

Whoever sees himself descending from a high place, or from a roof or mansion, in a dream turns back from his present condition. If a person sees in a dream that he is descending an old staircase, a decrease will occur in that person’s trade, and he will no longer be able to make a profit.

Ibn Sirin: To descend from a high place in a dream signifies falling from rank and falling into humiliation after having enjoyed honor. Descending from a pulpit or roof sometimes also indicates humility and acknowledging the truth.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.
