To see a valley in a dream signifies majesty, splendor, wealth, blessings, commerce, governance, victory, knowledge, pilgrimage, and a queen; to see a valley with trees signifies obtaining worldly means from a person of high rank and attaining goodness and benefit; a treeless and barren valley denotes sorrow and deprivation.

To become lost in a valley in a dream signifies death; a great valley signifies a vizier (prime minister); a lush green and well-watered valley signifies goodness, blessings, government, and prosperity; entering a dry valley with steep slopes covered in rocks signifies difficulties and troubles in livelihood; emerging from such a valley signifies attaining safety and points to sustenance and joy.

To see in a dream that one possesses a beautiful valley (or stream) signifies, for everyone, attaining an abundant share of all the good of this world and the Hereafter.

To see a valley in a dream sometimes signifies rain and the flowing of waters, and sometimes descending into a valley signifies travelling to misguided and rebellious people in order to convey religious rulings to them. Sometimes the valley signifies a dungeon and imprisonment because the mountains surround it.

Whoever sees in a dream that a valley has come between him and the road he intends to take, if he is a traveller, a thief will waylay him, or rain or a deceitful person will prevent him from continuing on his way. If he is not a traveller, imprisonment, beating, or sorrow and grief on account of fear will befall him. Or it signifies catching a chill or contracting an illness such as albuminuria. Especially if the valley’s water is turbid, or if this dream has been seen by the person concerned, should he cross that valley, he will be delivered from all the matters described above.

Whoever sees in a dream that he is digging a place and opening a pit in a valley, one of his family or relatives will die. Whoever sees himself emerging from the valley, it signifies that all his desires and wishes will be fulfilled. Ibn Sirin: To see in a dream a ravine or valley with a dried-up watercourse signifies setting out on a tiring journey or undertaking a long journey, and it may represent an obstinate person. To see a valley in a dream signifies good deeds or offering votive offerings in order to gain the pleasure of Allah Most High. In a dream, the valley also represents those who live there, a tribe from that region, or cultivated fields.

To see in a dream that the valley has become verdant with fruit trees, fragrant flowers, and flowing water, or to hear beautiful words in a dream, indicates that one’s rank will rise, that one will associate with people of influence, or that one will be appointed to a position in the government; and for a righteous person it indicates, by Allah’s leave, that miraculous events and blessings will be manifested through his hands. To see a valley in a dream also indicates rain and that the valley will fill with rainwater. In a dream, the valley may also represent a prison because of the steep mountains surrounding it and the difficulty of crossing it. To see oneself gliding through the air in the valley and reaching whatever height one wishes indicates working for a powerful person.

The valley also represents in a dream a warrior, a bandit, a highway robber, or a lion. If the valley obstructs one’s journey in a dream, it may indicate theft, torrential rain, or encountering a dangerous person. If one is not travelling, it indicates trouble, calamity, harm, imprisonment, fear, or illness. Crossing the valley in winter signifies escaping danger in a dream. Digging a valley in a dream indicates the death of one of the family members. To fall into a steep valley in a dream without feeling pain or suffering harm indicates that one will receive a gift from a person of authority or from one’s superior.
