Walking on Foot

According to Kirmani, whoever sees himself walking slowly, whether on foot or mounted, attains honor. Whoever sees in his dream that he is walking upon earth, property will come into his possession in a very short time. Whoever sees himself walking upon sand will undertake a difficult task.

Whoever sees himself walking upon thorns and feeling weariness from it will lose someone from his family or relatives. Or he will suffer a calamity. Whoever sees himself continuing along a highway is upon the path of religion and the Islamic Sacred Law.

According to one account, whoever walks on foot will find goodness in his religion and in his worldly affairs. Whoever sees that he has lost his way, or that he has left the road and gone in another direction, departs from the path of reward in his religion and worldly affairs. If he finds his way again, he will also have found the right path. Whoever sees himself bewildered on the road, not knowing where he should go, is likewise acting bewilderedly in directing his soul toward goodness.

Whoever sees himself walking on foot in a place where not even a trace of a road can be seen, and where there is no guide to show the way, will fall into deviation in his religion and difficulty in his affairs. Whoever walks upon a dark road turns away from the right path. Whoever sees himself emerging from darkness into light attains guidance.

To see in a dream that one is walking upon a road, but that certain animals and plants obstruct one’s passage, indicates that one’s life has come to its end. The straightness of the road is the soundness of religion. Whoever sees someone leading him from the right path to another road—if he has a debt owed to him, the debtor will deceive him and will not pay his debt. If he has no debt owed to him, that person will lead him into error. Whoever sees himself walking upon a dark road, supposing that he is upon the right path and undertaking this difficulty, will attain guidance. Whoever sees many roads and does not know which of them to take will be bewildered in his religion and will befriend an unbeliever.

Whoever sees in a dream that, while proceeding upon the right path, he knowingly leaves that path will deceive his enemy. Whoever sees himself proceeding along the road and then sees someone who knows these places very well, and for this reason turns back from the road, will commit an evil deed in his religion.

Whoever sees a woman while proceeding along the road, and follows behind her, will be deceived. To see oneself walking by conjecture in a place where there is no sign of a road indicates deviation in religion and pride within oneself. Whoever sees that he turns someone aside from his path deceives that man in his religion. A man who becomes bewildered on his way and loses his path will fall into exile. Whoever sees someone showing him the way will receive assistance in hardship.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq (may Allah be pleased with him), seeing a road is interpreted in five ways: religion, one’s desire, a good deed, goodness and blessing, and comfort.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, travel and change, work and responsibility, emotional life, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol resulted in the dream should be evaluated together.
