To see wheat in a dream signifies that the dark clouds over the dreamer will disperse, that his troubles and sorrows will gradually pass, and that fine days await him. The household of one who sees wheat or wheat flour shall never be devoid of abundance, prosperity, and tranquillity.

To see the green plant of wheat in a dream signifies rising to a position loved and respected by people. To see grains of wheat spilled upon a road signifies that one will possess abundant sustenance throughout that year and suffer no material hardship. If the wheat is inside a sack, it is interpreted as experiencing material losses and the beginning of troubled days.

If a person sees in his dream that he is eating wheat, this dream signifies that he will come into a great inheritance from an unexpected source. If the wheat eaten in the dream is hard, it signifies a gain to be attained after great exertion. If the wheat is rotten, it signifies that the dreamer will suffer great material losses and fall into spiritual distress.

To see a wheat field in a dream signifies that the person will become engrossed in affairs whose outcome is unknown. According to some interpreters, wheat planted in a field is also explained as having a child. If the wheat field is seen burning, it signifies that famine will be experienced throughout that year, an unsettled family life, and that evil days are very near.

To see oneself trampling the crops in a wheat field in a dream signifies that the dreamer will undertake matters from which he will be unable to extricate himself, and as a result will suffer great material and spiritual losses.

To see fresh, green-colored wheat in a dream signifies a person of strong faith who performs righteous deeds. This dream signifies that the person will continue the good works he performs and will receive their reward in the very near future. According to some interpreters, seeing green wheat in a dream is also interpreted as meaning that the dreamer will benefit from a person possessing extensive knowledge concerning an issue in which he has reached an impasse.

To see oneself sowing wheat grains in a field or any garden signifies that the person will perform righteous deeds, seeking the pleasure of Allah. It is also interpreted as undertaking new business ventures, developing in commercial activities, and enjoying a successful working life. If the wheat sown in the field germinates, it signifies that tranquillity will never be absent from the household and that the year will be prosperous; if the wheat sown does not turn green, it signifies that the ventures begun will end in failure.

If the wheat sown is seen being eaten by crows in a dream, this is interpreted as meaning that there is someone near the dreamer who wishes him harm.

To see oneself gathering wheat in a dream signifies that the person will be present in new places and make certain friendships there. It is also a sign that he must be careful in his choices so that the bonds of friendship he forms with the new people he will meet may be auspicious. If the wheat gathered is green, it signifies that a work begun before its proper time will end in disappointment; if it is yellow, it signifies attaining great gains.

If a person sees in his dream that he is washing grains of wheat, this dream is interpreted as meaning that he will succeed in every undertaking to which he applies himself and attain high offices. It is also a sign that, in order to attain true happiness and tranquillity, the person must not depart from the path in which he believes.

To see wheat in a dream signifies an honourable wealth acquired through difficulty, toil, and superior exertion.

To buy wheat in a dream signifies that the dreamer will possess a fortune enabling him to live in abundance.

To see oneself sowing wheat in a dream is interpreted as meaning that the person will do good, beautiful, and auspicious works beneficial to people, and will receive a recompense of equal beauty.

To see oneself sowing wheat, yet barley growing, signifies the virtue of appearing as one truly is, or of being as one appears.

To see green ears of wheat in a dream signifies that the dreamer’s work and pursuits will develop as he wishes at every stage of his life; it also means that cheapness and abundance will prevail.

The venerable Ja‘far al-Sadiq assigned three meanings to eating wheat in a dream: dismissal from office; that an affair will be undertaken against an official; and exile.

To see wheat upon a bed in a dream signifies the pregnancy of the dreamer’s wife.

To see oneself eating dry or cooked wheat signifies encountering something that will by no means be pleasing.

If a person sees in a dream that he is reaping wheat in a place out of season, it signifies that he will lose his position and, being exposed to the gossip of those around him, will become unhappy.

To see a person’s belly filled to overflowing with dry wheat in a dream is interpreted as meaning that his life will be short.

To eat a head of wheat in a dream is interpreted as meaning that the person will suffer want.

Sowing wheat signifies performing works directed toward goodness and peace for the sake of Allah’s pleasure, striving tirelessly in His path, and assuredly receiving auspicious sustenance together with hardship. If a farmer mixes wheat on the threshing floor, it signifies abundance; but if he is thinking even amid that abundance, it signifies that he will practise economy.

To buy wheat in a dream signifies prosperity and abundance of offspring. Yet nothing can be said as to whether that offspring will be auspicious. For barley to grow in a field sown with wheat signifies that the person is more righteous and good than he appears. For oats, rye, and the like to grow in place of wheat signifies the occurrence of an unexpected situation.

For a bitter plant, not customarily eaten, to emerge from a field in which wheat has been sown signifies doubtful property and consuming usury. It is a warning for the person to protect himself. Green ears whose grains have ripened are interpreted as a prosperous year; a dry ear seen upon its stalk is interpreted as a year of famine.

To eat a green ear in a dream signifies worship; to eat a dry one signifies awareness of servitude and attaining the delight of worship, and points to servitude to Allah with greater consciousness than before.

For a person to see gathered wheat ears in one place in his dream signifies worldly property acquired unjustly. To free oneself from this, one should beseech Allah for the blessing of performing good works. Every opportunity for goodness should be seized.

To gather fallen ears in a dream signifies receiving kindness from a wealthy person; if this occurs only once, it signifies prosperity; but if it creates a continual expectation, it signifies that the dreamer will become accustomed to what is readily available and that his overall prosperity will diminish.

To gather a harvest of wheat that is green and out of season signifies mass deaths, sedition, and turmoil; seeking ways to avoid these; and that it is precisely the time to counsel those around one toward goodness and peace.

To see green ears being reaped in a dream signifies the death of a young person; to see dry ears being reaped signifies the death of an elderly person. Death shall come to everyone. It also signifies being prepared for the death of the young.

To exchange wheat for barley in a dream signifies exchanging something valuable for something worthless and doing so unknowingly. It is a warning not to act thoughtlessly and excitedly.

To see a wheat market and heaps of wheat therein in a dream signifies hardship in livelihood for those in need of wheat, and for others, the exertion and effort necessary for the continuation of the world. It is a warning to give more thanks both to the one in hardship and to the one in abundance, signifying that the blessing of what is little will increase and the blessing of what is much will decrease.

To see an ant carrying grains of wheat out from one place signifies secretly appropriating to one’s own account property belonging to a partner or another person, and that the dreamer has not shown sufficient effort in following up his work. On the other hand, for an ant to heap wheat in a place is interpreted as meaning that the property will be blessed with abundance.

To urinate or spit upon wheat signifies ingratitude for a blessing.

To bring wheat into the house in a dream is an announcement of hardship in livelihood; one is tested through patience amid difficulty in making a living. To eat the wheat that was brought signifies monetary gain and a material benefit.

To see crops in a dream has many meanings, according to how they are seen. Some interpreters have differed concerning these matters. Yet the interpretations generally accepted and shown to be most accurate are the following.

To see crops that have grown in their season in a particular place signifies a child. The good and evil events concerning those crops are attributed to the child.

To see ears grown, ripened, and turned yellow in an unknown place foreign to oneself, yet not in their season, signifies hostility against the dreamer. It signifies that he will find himself facing a group united in the same opinion and assisting one another against him. To see oneself harvesting the crop signifies that a group will fall into sedition and perish.

To see oneself cultivating a field, reaping its harvest, and then conveying it to the threshing floor—that is, to hope to bring the work to completion with Allah’s aid—is interpreted as attaining what one hopes for and finding the reward of the good one has performed.

Whoever sees himself walking among reaped crops, if he is of military age, will go to the army. If she is a woman, one of her relatives will go to the army or be summoned to duty.

Ibn Sirin: To see wheat in a dream signifies money earned through lawful means. To buy wheat in a dream signifies an increase in one’s earnings or an increase in the number of one’s children.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
