Autumn Equinox 2026: The Sun Enters Libra

On September 23, 2026, as the Sun enters Libra, day and night equalize — the autumn equinox. This is not only an astronomical event, but also the zero point of astrology’s own time measurement: the tropical zodiac begins precisely at this moment. In this article, we discuss the astrological significance of the equinox.

Why is the Equinox Astrologically Important?

\n

In Western (tropical) astrology, signs are defined not by fixed stars, but by the seasonal position of the Sun — and the starting point of Aries (and thus the entire zodiac) is the spring equinox. The autumn equinox marks the opposite point, 0° Libra. Therefore, the equinox signifies not just “day and night equal,” but is one of the four main pillars of the coordinate system that astrology uses (the others being the spring equinox and the two solstices).

\n

It’s also significant that it marks the beginning of Libra: the “I” cycle that begins with Aries (spring) shifts to the theme of “we” with Libra — balance, justice, relationships, and compromise. The autumn equinox raises the question of how the individual energy accumulated over the summer will now be balanced with others, society, and the environment.

What Can Be Done During This Period?

\n

\n
• Conduct a “mid-evaluation” of the steps you’ve taken in the first half of the year (since the spring equinox) — which ones have been balanced, and which have been excessive?
\n
• Review reciprocity in your relationships (personal or professional) — Libra energy provides a suitable ground for this.
\n
• In harmony with the theme of harvest/collection, try to make the tangible results of your efforts this year visible.
