Being Dismissed (Termination of Office)

For a person holding office to see in his dream that he has been dismissed is not a good sign. The seeing of such a dream is regarded as an indication that the dreamer is negligent in matters of religion and does not perform his acts of worship as he ought.

If a person sees in his dream that he is the head of a department and has dismissed one of the officials working under his command, this signifies that the dreamer will separate from his wife.

If a person sees in his dream that he has been dismissed from his office and that another has been appointed in his place, this indicates that, in the province where he resides, some evil will befall the governor at the hands of one of his enemies. It signifies that he must therefore attend firmly and closely to his affairs.

According to another narration: Being removed from office signifies, for an official, the continuation and permanence of his duty; for others, arduous endeavors; being appointed to another place in the same office or to another office sometimes signifies that this will come to pass, and sometimes a loss that will occur in one’s property.

Seyyid Süleyman, according to the statement of Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz, said: If a person holding office sees in his dream that he has been dismissed, his official position will continue. If an official who has been dismissed sees that he has been appointed again, this is generally regarded as a matter of the subconscious.

Kirmani said: To see in a dream that one of the great has been dismissed indicates either a deficiency in his religion or a decline in his rank.

Jabir al-Maghribi says: It is not good for a pious and upright person to see that he has been dismissed. If a person distant from religion sees the same dream, it signifies that he will be appointed to public office or receive a rank.

According to most interpreters, this dream is not worthy of interpretation. For one who is not an official to see that he has been appointed to public office signifies hardship and difficulty in earning a livelihood. But for an official to see that he has been dismissed is interpreted as healing and safety.

For an old man to see that he has been dismissed is good. For a young man to see the same dream is not good. If a person worthy of high rank sees that he has been dismissed, his station will rise.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.
