To see a bridge in a dream signifies valor, sovereignty, goodness, and the attainment of one’s desire; the life of this world, sexual intercourse, the lady of the house, and deliverance from sorrow and distress; a person who accomplishes affairs and is benevolent; and the straight path. The bridge signifies knowledge, guidance, righteous deeds that rescue a man from the mire of the world; one who bears hardship and affliction, and in this regard, parents, spouse, and friends; keeping one’s word, wealth, or a long life.

To cross a bridge in a dream signifies attaining one’s desire and the occurrence of auspicious results. A bridge in a dream is interpreted as overcoming certain difficulties.

To cross a bridge without trouble in a dream is a sign that you will overcome certain difficulties. If the bridge is collapsing, it is a sign that there are enemies around you. A bridge over a flowing stream is very good. It indicates that the person’s future will be very good.

The interpretation of seeing a bridge in a dream is a passageway. To see that one is upon a bridge but unable to cross it signifies that, although he loves a woman—or, if she is a woman, a man—he will be unable to marry that person; to see oneself crossing it signifies that one will marry. To be in the middle while crossing a bridge signifies that one’s marriage is not proceeding well; falling from the bridge signifies that after a while one will separate from one’s spouse.

To see a bridge made of stone in a dream signifies the strength of family bonds; a wooden bridge signifies a marriage established by means of a precarious agreement. According to Ibn Sirin, a bridge is interpreted as a passageway that reveals the condition of people between this world and the Hereafter.

According to His Eminence Seyyid Süleyman Hüseynî: A bridge which one crosses in a dream by means of a miracle, without falling from it, leads a person directly to the gate of Paradise. According to one account, a bridge also signifies a long life or failing to fulfil one’s promise. To see, while crossing a bridge, that one encounters in its middle a person whom one does not know and speaks with him signifies that one will receive the glad tidings one has been awaiting or collect a debt owed to oneself.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has crossed a historic bridge attains his desire. To cross a stone bridge with several arches signifies that one is upon the straight path and is regarded as an acceptable person in the sight of the Most High and True God. Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz compares the bridge with the Bridge of Sirat.

To see, while crossing a bridge in a dream, that no water passes beneath it signifies that one has many sins and must repent; to see abundant waters flowing beneath the bridge signifies that one has attained a great reward. To see, while crossing a bridge, that the bridge collapses but that no harm befalls oneself signifies that a calamity, illness, flood, earthquake, or some other disaster will come upon that place, but that one oneself will suffer no harm from it. If one sees that, as the bridge collapses, one too tumbles into the water, it signifies that a great calamity from that disaster will befall oneself as well.

To see oneself building a bridge in a dream signifies that one has performed a great good deed; to build a bridge and not fully understand it signifies the shortness of one’s life. To see that many craftsmen are building the bridge and that one has merely assisted in its construction signifies that one is working for the sake of charity in a charitable association and will thereby earn a great reward.

To see oneself painting the iron railings situated at the sides of a bridge in a dream is evidence that profit and abundance will increase in one’s work.

According to Jābir al-Maghribī, seeing a bridge in a dream is interpreted as the straight path. The Bridge of Sirat is likewise a straight path. To walk and cross upon this path without encountering any obstacle means attaining guidance. According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq, may God be pleased with him, a dream of a bridge is interpreted in five ways: the straight path, honesty, an overpass or underpass, danger, and the household.

According to Salimî, seeing a bridge and an arch in a dream signifies goodness. According to Kirmānî, whoever sees that he has crossed over a bridge or arch attains money, fame, and every wish of his. According to one account, crossing over a bridge or arch signifies deliverance from fear and anxiety.

According to another account: Seeing a bridge in a dream signifies doubt and the world. At times the bridge signifies a wife, and at times it signifies the removal of sorrow, grief, and distress.

To ride upon a bridge in a dream signifies riding an animal. If the bridges are made of tiles, it signifies that the condition of the inhabitants of the city will deteriorate on account of oppression. The bridge signifies wealth, a long life, illness, or failure to fulfil one’s covenant.

A bridge is a necessary person through whom people reach their affairs and needs. If, after crossing the bridge, the place at which one arrives on the other side is an undesirable place, there is no good in this dream.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has crossed a bridge belonging to the works of kings will attain great property and marry. An unknown bridge signifies the world, especially if it is between the city and the open country of the city. At times the bridge signifies a ship, and at times the Bridge of Sirat. If the dreamer is a traveller, it signifies that the journey of that person will come to an end.

If, after crossing the bridge in a dream, one enters a place of abundance, pasture, and water, that person will attain benefit and property. If, after crossing the bridge, one enters a place where there is a mosque, that person will attain his desire on his journey, be enabled to go on pilgrimage, and succeed in restoring and flourishing benevolent places such as inns and dervish lodges.

Whoever sees in a dream that he himself is a bridge will attain sovereignty and power. Whoever sees that he has crossed a wooden bridge will mix with a hypocritical people. The bridge in a dream is the straight path. At times the bridge signifies knowledge, guidance, prayer, fasting, the troubles and hardships of the world, and everything that will save a person from the fear and torment of the Hereafter. At times it signifies the servant who bears hardship and affliction, or a person like a doorkeeper who attends to needs. At times the bridge signifies property, a wife, parents. The interpretation of every bridge is according to its condition. To see a bridge upon a public road signifies a person possessing sovereignty. If the bridge is small, it signifies a doorkeeper and the commanders of soldiers. It is a sign that you will overcome certain difficulties.

Ibn Sirin: To see an arched bridge in a dream signifies knowledge, truth, the perfectly straight path, and deliverance from a perilous passage.

Ibn Sirin: To see a bridge in a dream signifies the Bridge of Sirat, knowledge, the path of truth, and a passage between this world and the Hereafter. To cross the bridge signifies attaining safety.
