Graveyard

Seeing a graveyard in a dream means immersing oneself in the religious life. Seeing a graveyard signifies listening to a preacher and to the Qur’an and weeping, and immersing oneself in the realm of spirituality.

The interpretation of seeing a graveyard in a dream is fear and security. Whoever sees in his dream that he is in a graveyard, it signifies that the notable ruler of that place is a good and just person; according to one narration, it is also interpreted as the house of a woman who procures prostitution. If a sick person sees in his dream that he enters a graveyard and builds a house there, he dies.

According to another narration: Seeing a graveyard in a dream signifies preaching, reciting the Qur’an, weeping, remembering death, fearing, and severing one’s attachment to the world. At times, seeing a graveyard signifies scholars and people possessing piety, and the brave men among the Muslim soldiers. At times, seeing an Islamic graveyard signifies the brave men among the Muslim soldiers. At times, an Islamic graveyard signifies the tents of the Muslim soldiers and the Muslims’ preparing to meet an army.

At times, a graveyard signifies the house of a woman who commits adultery. If something precious from a graveyard dating from the Age of Ignorance comes into a person’s hand in a dream, it signifies obtaining lawful sustenance through gain or spoils. Seeing a graveyard in a dream signifies security for those who are afraid, and fear for those who are without fear.

Seeing a graveyard in a dream signifies fear and hope, and returning to guidance after misguidance. Seeing the graveyard of the polytheists signifies sorrow and grief, fear, doubt in religion, places of innovation, and a lonely and desolate prison. For the graveyard is a prison for the bodies and corpses that come to it. A graveyard signifies a place of worship, such as a dervish lodge and the like, relinquishing the world and all besides God, weeping, and stations. At times, a graveyard signifies death, for the graveyard is the abode of the dead. At times, a graveyard signifies the houses of unbelievers and people of innovation, and the quarter of the protected non-Muslims. At times, it signifies the houses of those who have been weakened by corrupting and ruinous deeds, and the houses of adulterers; taverns containing those who are drunk as though dead; and the places of the heedless, who neither perform the prayer nor remember God and have no deed for the sake of God.

At times, a graveyard signifies a person in prison. Whoever sees that he enters a graveyard, especially that he builds a structure there, if he is ill, enters the graveyard by dying of that illness.

If he is not ill, one must consider the state of the dreamer: If, upon entering there, he sees that he weeps in fear, or recites the Qur’an, or prays facing the qiblah, he attains worship and obedience by joining the company of the righteous and the gatherings of remembrance. He benefits from what he sees and hears. If, upon entering there, he is naked and laughing, or urinates upon the graves, or walks together with the dead, that person joins the ranks of the wicked and the lovers of lust, and adopts and prefers their ways.

Whoever sees in a dream that he enters a graveyard with the call to prayer gives counsel to one who does not understand admonition and advice. He enjoins goodness upon a man who will not heed his words. Among an ignorant and heedless people, or among a people all of whom are unbelievers, he strives to bear truthful witness and fulfill the truth. The known graveyards are a true and established matter. Therefore, whoever sees that he enters such a place so that his soul may have faith, and sees that he speaks there with goodness and wisdom and returns to the Truth in repentance, enters into a good service and acts therein with fairness.

Whoever, upon entering that graveyard in a dream, does not restrain his soul from evil and does not take heed, is involved in a matter in which he will act heedlessly.

Whoever sees in a dream that he enters a graveyard and tramples upon the bones of the dead is subjected to an experience and a trial.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
