Canal

To see a canal in a dream signifies a watchman or one who attends to the financial affairs of the state; a canal containing water denotes ease, while a canal without water denotes difficulty and hardship. If the water flowing through the canal is dirty, it signifies illness, especially ailments of the stomach. Clean water heralds that you will lead a happy and comfortable life. That is, it is a matter that will bring pleasure.

To see a canal containing water in a dream signifies that you are at an important stage of your life; if the water in the canal is clean, you will pass through this period with ease; if it is dirty, it signifies that days of distress are near.

According to some, to see a canal in a dream and to pass through that canal means seeing that the means one has possessed until now have vanished. Whoever sees himself cross the canal from one side to the other retains some portion of his former means. The canal denotes difficulty and obstruction.

According to another narration: To see a canal in a dream signifies the places and means through which sustenance comes, such as an inn, a shop, a craft, and travel. If a person sees in a dream a canal carrying clean water from outside a city into it, and sees the people drinking from that water, praising Allah (Exalted is He), and filling their vessels, they shall be delivered from illnesses. If they are in a state of severity and distress, Allah Most High will bestow upon them either continual rain, food, or cheapness and abundance in their sustenance, expansiveness, and prosperity in their livelihood.

Salt water or turbid water seen flowing through a canal, if it overflows beyond the canal and harms the people, signifies that an epidemic will befall the people, or that ugly news will come to them from those who are travelling or dwelling abroad, or it signifies unlawful and vile property. If a person sees that a canal flows into a vacant place or into his field, he will marry if he is unmarried. To see the water leave its canal and harm the people signifies evil and worthless reports that will come upon the people from one direction and spread among them. A canal in a dream signifies a watchman and an accountant. If no water flows through it, the dreamer’s affairs will become difficult, and there is no benefit in it for him. If water is flowing, it is an ease for the dreamer.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of health and body, work and responsibility, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
