To see an earring in one’s spouse’s ear in a dream signifies engaging in trade; to see oneself putting earrings in one’s ears signifies reading the Qur’an beautifully, or is an indication of beauty and wealth.

To see an earring in the ear of a pregnant woman in a dream signifies a male child; if the earring is of gold, it signifies that her son will become a hafiz; if it is of silver, that he will memorize half of the Qur’an; and if it is an earring without a pearl, that he will become a singer. An earring seen in the ear of a male child signifies adornment; a young girl’s seeing an earring signifies that she will marry; and a boy who has reached puberty putting on an earring signifies deficiency of intellect and committing an act for which he will be reproached.

To see many earrings in one’s ears in a dream signifies knowledge together with honour and esteem; to see beautiful earrings in the ears of many women signifies prosperous countries, flourishing cities, profitable trade to be conducted therein, and agreeable living. You shall receive good news. You may acquire a very interesting and fine occupation. It signifies good fortune concerning a spouse or beloved. It is interpreted together with the material from which the earring is made.

The interpretation of seeing an earring in a dream is given in various ways. Whoever sees that he has an earring in his ear loves listening to a beautiful voice and musical instruments. Whoever sees that the earrings in his ears are adorned with jewels, and that each of them contains a pearl or pearls, memorizes the Noble Qur’an or undertakes a charitable deed but does not complete it.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has hoops in his ears becomes a person loved and respected among the people. Whoever sees that there is a precious pearl in his earring acquires knowledge of the Qur’an or religious learning. If the pearl in the hoop falls, he forgets the Qur’an and everything else.

Whoever sees his wife wearing a pair of hoops made of gold or silver in her ears, or two hoops, one gold and the other silver, divorces his wife. According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, seeing an earring in a dream is interpreted in the same manner for men and women.

To see a gold earring in a dream is interpreted as singing. Whoever sees silver earrings in his ears memorizes the entire Qur’an. If a woman who sees silver earrings in her ears is pregnant, she gives birth to a male child. Whoever sees in his dream that he is speaking with a woman whose ears are adorned with earrings earns money by engaging in trade in a great city. Whoever sees one gold earring and the other silver in his wife’s ear divorces his wife.

According to another narration: To see an earring in one’s wife’s ear in a dream is an indication of trade. Whoever sees a pearl earring in his ear signifies the blessings of this world, beauty and wealth, and memorizing the Qur’an with a beautiful voice. If a pregnant woman sees an earring in her ear in a dream, it signifies that the child in her womb is male. If the earring is of silver, her child memorizes half of the Qur’an. If it is of gold, he memorizes the whole Qur’an. If the earring is without a pearl, her child sings songs and ballads.

If an unmarried girl sees one of the earrings in a dream, she marries. An earring seen in the ear of a male child is adornment. Seeing an earring in the ear of a child who has reached puberty or in the ear of men is not praiseworthy.

Whoever sees in a dream that there are a number of earrings in his ear memorizes the Qur’an or acquires a branch of knowledge by which he will attain honour and esteem among the people. For a woman, an earring signifies her husband, and the pendants of the earring signify her children. At times, an earring also signifies animal grazing places, or eating things that women wear for adornment. Whoever sees that he has an earring in his ear desires to listen to beautiful and harmonious things, or he himself attends such places and listens.

For whoever sees a woman or a slave-girl, and sees earrings, with or without pendants, in their ears, it signifies profit arising in a flourishing city and district. It indicates trade and servants found in places of recreation.

Ibn Sirin: To see an earring in a dream signifies beautiful speech, knowledge, or offspring. For a woman, an earring signifies adornment and joy; for a man, an earring may signify an ugly word or listening to music. A gold earring also indicates memorization of the Qur’an.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
