To see an idol in a dream signifies a person who, despite possessing beauty of form and countenance, is cruel, as well as foolish and speechless people. An idol sometimes signifies the spouse, child, property and worldly possessions, money, fame, beloved, and similar things to which a person shows excessive attention and which divert him from worship and servitude; it may also signify the desires and inclinations of his lower self.

To worship an idol in a dream signifies attributing lies to the Truth by means of erroneous opinions and thoughts one has put forward, and indicates states and actions that necessitate Divine wrath. To see that one does not worship the idol despite seeing it signifies attaining abundant wealth or falling in love with someone. An idol sometimes also indicates the passage of time and the changes that will occur among those living in that time.

To see an idol falling face down in a dream is interpreted as becoming a mature Muslim by curbing one’s passions, or as the end of the rule of false opinions and ideologies.

To break idols in a dream, or to make them ugly by changing their forms, signifies attaining high offices and ranks, vanquishing the enemy, and being secure from his deceit; an idol sometimes signifies a conceited woman.

The interpretation of seeing an idol in a dream is an indication of a man whose face is handsome but whose character is ugly and merciless. If one is worshipping an idol of gold in a dream, it signifies that he will draw near to a person who worships Allah; and if he sees that he has broken the idols or disfigured their forms, it indicates that this person will attain a high station and prevail over his enemy.

What does it mean to see an idol in a dream: It signifies people with handsome faces and good morals. To see oneself prostrating before an idol in a dream indicates that one has committed a great sin against Allah (Exalted is He). If the idol is made of wood, it indicates that one will befriend an unjust hypocrite. If it is of silver, it signifies drawing near to a female servant and forming a secret friendship with her.

According to another narration: An idol seen in a dream signifies handsome-faced, well-mannered yet cruel people. Whoever sees himself worshipping an idol in a dream attributes lies to Allah through the false opinion he has brought forth. If the idol he worships is of wood, he draws near to an unjust and hypocritical person of great standing. If the idol he worships is of silver, that person performs a deed regarded as religiously acceptable in order to approach a woman or female servant treacherously or secretly and to make himself appear trustworthy to her.

If the idol he has made is of gold in a dream, he performs an unlawful deed, forms an association with a person whom Allah Almighty detests, and harm reaches him from that person. It is feared that he will have to pay compensation to him and that his property will be taken from his hands. If the idol he worships is of copper, iron, or tin, that person seeks the world in exchange for his religion and forgets his Lord.

Whoever sees one of many idols in a dream sets out on a distant journey. Whoever sees an image made of gold or silver in a dream attains worldly goods. To see small, moving images made of brass signifies cheapness, abundance, a fine condition, and travel. To see large images signifies distress. Images seen in a dream signify the child whom the dreamer desires and longs for.

To see oneself worshipping an idol in a dream indicates that the person is occupied with a false matter and prefers the desires of his lower self to the pleasure of Allah (Exalted is He). To see an idol made of gold signifies the loss of the dreamer’s property together with the weakening of his religion. If the idol is of silver, that person uses his religion as a means to commit treachery or an evil deed concerning a woman or a servant woman.

Whoever sees an idol but does not worship it in a dream attains abundant wealth. To see an idol in a dream signifies falling in love with a woman or a man. Idols signify men who cannot speak well, or who are foolish or speechless, and things such as fame, property, a beloved, a husband, a child, and the like, which occupy a person and prevent him from worshipping Allah.

Whoever sees an idol in his possession in a dream will marry a woman who is deaf, speechless, unable to speak well, or bewildered, or such a child will be born to him.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has broken idols or made their forms ugly in any manner attains a high rank, triumphs over his enemies, and becomes secure from their schemes.

The interpretation of seeing an idol in a dream indicates a journey to distant lands within a short time; worshipping an idol indicates madness; and breaking an idol indicates the beginning of an unhappy life.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.
