Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq: To see in a dream that you strike a lighter indicates that you will acquire unlawful property from the state, or that you will obtain unlawful property through bribery by working in the service of the state.

To see in a dream that you strike a lighter but no fire comes forth indicates that you will not attain the property you desired.

Ibn Sirin: To see a lighter and flint in a dream signifies two partners, one powerful and courageous, and the other hard-hearted. These two partners will bring people renown and accomplish great works with them.

Kirmani: To strike a lighter in a dream and light things such as a lamp or candle indicates that, through a just and tolerant judge, the people will live in comfort.

For a learned person, it signifies that people will benefit from his knowledge; and for a merchant, that he will do good to people and provide them with benefit. For poor people, it indicates that people will benefit from his virtue and good conduct.
