Menstruation (Women’s Monthly Period)

To see in one’s dream that one has begun menstruating, that is, that one is having one’s monthly period, is an indication that one’s religion is corrupt. To see one’s wife menstruating signifies that worldly affairs will become difficult; but if one’s wife is a good and upright woman, it is an indication of the strength of one’s religion.

To see a woman menstruating in a dream signifies that she will acquire property. Whether man or woman, whoever sees that they are menstruating, then performs the ritual bath and puts on their garments, will attain what they desire in this world and the Hereafter.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz: If a woman sees that she is menstruating, and she is barren, she will have a child. Some interpreters say that seeing menstruation signifies lying.

According to al-Salimi: If an old woman sees herself soiled, it indicates that her appointed time of death is near; and if a young girl sees this dream, it indicates the loss of her virginity.

According to one narration, an old woman or a young girl seeing menstruation in a dream signifies death; according to another narration, a young girl’s seeing this dream indicates that she will marry.

According to another narration: Whoever sees in a dream that they are menstruating will engage in intimacy with their mahram. If a woman sees that she is menstruating, she will become involved in an act considered sinful. If she washes herself, she will repent of the sin, and her sorrow and grief will depart.

If a woman sees in a dream blood upon herself that is not menstrual blood, she will commit a crime or offense that has become habitual for her and from which she wishes to be free, yet escaping from it will not be easy. If a woman sees in a dream that she is menstruating while her husband has sexual intercourse with her, she and her husband will migrate from the city in which they reside together.

Some interpreters interpret a man’s seeing himself menstruating in a dream as his telling lies. Whoever sees his wife menstruating will have his wishes and desires forbidden to him and will be deprived of attaining his desire. Menstruation signifies deficiency in fasting and prayer in religion. It has also been said that menstruation is interpreted as illness.

A pregnant woman’s seeing herself menstruating in a dream indicates that she will give birth to a male child. A man’s seeing himself menstruating in a dream indicates that he will have sexual intercourse with a woman unlawful to him. Whoever sees his wife menstruating will experience stagnation in his work and profession.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
